Competition is heating up!

Alright guys, I need some advice on any tricks I can do to my '12 5.0 to get the best 1/8 E.Ts or improve low end. We have about 10 guys going to the track next friday and they are getting anxious/nervous to see what my car has.

There is going to be:
'12 charger SRT8
'10 camero SS
'05 vette
'01 (highly modded) vette
'87 monte
'86 iroc
'73 nova

Im mainly nervous about the SRT8 and the '01 vette.

I main not beat them but I wanna have a respectful time. I have a roush catback, c&l cri, bama tune, 3.73, and M6. Anything i can add at a decent price to improve time. And not tires...waiting for them.

Re: Competition is heating up!

tires and work on launching...chargers are heavy, shouldn't be tough competition. I'd worry about that vette more than anything.

What all the vette have? Also if the charger has any work it will be a good race. They are solid cars. I have seen a charger and Challenger run 12.4-12.6 in the 1/4 bone stock. There is even a Guy that went 11.8 with bolts and no tune and another Guy that went 11.5 with a 100 shot and no tune. Besides tires nitrous or a better tune. Being your a manual if you have Dr's in time a nice 4000 launch will help a lot.

Re: Competition is heating up!

If the charger is stock...you should win. I've beat two with my bimmer...it's not stock though.

And that compared to you with same mods is higher. He has the 2012/2011 392 SRT8? Cause I ask cause of tune. And they make over 400whp stock.

It's all about putting the power to the ground. You have the power already . I ran my buddys srt challenger( I'd never even sat in before ) a full sec faster than him. With experience hooking up what u have, u will beat them all. Unless the vette has the same experience.

No, the factory claims 12.5 I ran 14.0 not power shifting, with tc on. It fell flat on its face because of tc.

You know the new SRT has went 12.2 bone stock. They are not slow. My buddies with his tune/cold air and 3.73's 5.0 got spanked by one from a 40-130 roll. Same challanger ran a 12.4 at track. Same track same night buddy got a 12.6. They both cut 1.9 60fts.

Drag radials or slicks is going to be a must if he wants to compete.

This is the 1/8th tho...i think i will be about to hold him off for that long..idk for sure if he has done anything to it...he lives in texas and is coming home...he did get 1st in a dyno pull they did but i cant remember what his numbers were...i will have to look again...the vette is overpowered...last time he ran..he spun all the way down...and he wont buy good tires..i think with the shorter stroke I car will get going out of the whole...i had a trans am ls1 and it picked up to late for the 1/8

---------- Post added at 12:58 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:43 PM ----------

I just read his numbers again...the car was completely stock and ran 414hp and 414tq at 186mph...idk what kind of dyno or anything..i do know out of the factory they are 462hp at the crank

I raced an srt8 magnum and blew the doors off it while my mustang was bone stock. I also have 3.73's from the factory. I don't know how much of a weight diff there is but I don't think it's much

Ya that's not a new 470hp 470tq SRT8 challenger. Or charger at that. They don't even make the magnum any more do they?

And you know a new one they say 392 on the side for the srt

Am I confused or is everyone else. Are we talking about a 2008 or a 11/12?

---------- Post added at 07:52 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:08 PM ----------

I know that the 11/12 is a whole different machine, just trying to figure out what model we're talking about

That's not bad. Best I ever got was 8.41 with CAI, 93 tune, and wider street tires. It was hot and humid... And I'm not the greatest driver lol, decent at best.
