Drag racing questions

What would be the best thing to do to a stock 2012 5.0 automatic trans to get the best quarter mile time.

---------- Post added at 11:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:25 AM ----------

With a cost around $1,000.

Probably a better stall and drag radials. There are 47,192,387 threads that could help you figure this out ...

Tune and off road x pipe and drag radials can get you in the high 11's. Next is a stall. A stall is good for about .4-.6 in the 1/4 alone. Circle D is who makes stalls. But they are kinda expensive. Will run you about 1200 but for an auto is biggest bang out there really.

No reason to do 4.10's. We have a stout 1st gear already. If anything go with 3.31's so you go through traps in 3rd gear at 7000rpms. 4.10's will have you going through in 5th gear at a lower rpm lower in power band.

Different converter for your automatic. It acts like the clutch and pressure plate in a manual car. You can get different stall converters that allow the car to launch at higher RPM's without locking up and spinning he tires off idle

For a n/a car most guys are running 3600 to a 4400 stall. I know a few that run a 5000 stall. All in new 5.0's. All cutting 1.4-1.6 60fts. I run a 3800 in my car. I might have it restalled and run a 4400 in mine as well.

How do you like the manual in comparison? These new manuals are soooo much better than the slush boxes of old.

I like the auto a lot better. The manual sucked the more power I put in it.

Aside from how fragile they are, I'd love a 6 speed manual in my car.
