2 Part question guys, First part i've been wondering to myself for awhile is, how exactly do you automatic guys drag race your cars. This is going to sound like a totally stupid question, but do you rev your car in neutral, then drop it in drive? Or just stop on the gas when the light drops.
Second part. How do you smoke the tires in an auto? I sort of grasp the concept of a standard trans doing it, but just curious. Never really saw these question posted on here before, so i figured i'd be the noob to ask.

First question, I put it in drive, hold the brake hard, rev it up a bit and release the brake and punch the go pedal when the light turns green.
Second question, same concept as above except not as much brake pressure.

Autos generally leave better from neutral with the stock tq converter

The sudden application of Tq, I've spattered two IRS' and know a few others that have too. Granted they were T-Birds, but blew out both sides both times.
As for better times I can't confirm or deny that but everyone I've ever seen or herd said not to go from neutral for best times and durability. The durability is all I can speak too.

I'm not talking about neutral dropping. Just leaving from idle.
