Finally bit the bullet and ordered some DRs. I ordered some 305/35R18 Nitto 555R2. I've pushed the street tire as far as I can. After the weight reduction and manifold/JLT/TB install, seems to be enough to push the regular 275 555s past the point that they'd be useful. I blow through 1st and second then twist hard in 3rd.

I didn't go with the regular R because I will not sacrifice the sidewall. After pulling 1.81X with the 555, I am 100% confident I can pull 1.675s on the 555R2. Shooting for a 1.70X first time out.

Hoping for 113 MPH and as close to 11.99 as possible. Even if it is just a 12.1 or even 12.2

It'll be interesting what you can do with an 18in drag radial

I finally picked up my car from Paul @ Modern Muscle and I'd kiss him if he'd let me hehe. By accident or by design, he managed to get me better MPG while making more power.

Next winter will be 298 stroker and heads. Then the money pit will be complete.

Get drag rim and tires, my new setup shaved almost 80 pounds or my factory 18s and rims and tires are cheap, then a tubular k member and a arms and steeda sway bar mount and you've dropped almost 150 pounds

My goal is to drive in, race, and drive out the same way. I may do things like the tubular K member etc. All depends on how close I get to 11s then go from there. I won't compromise my wheels or use drag only springs etc.

Installed the R2 Nittos. After spinning a little getting grease off after about 7 miles they started gripping very well.

2nd gear roll punch would break loose the 555s and 3rd gear punch would chirp them. 1st gear forget it.

Now, rolling punches in 1st from about 4k induced a slight chirp then pulled hard. Slammed 2nd and it didn't chirp at all, just pulled. I'm really excited to try these at ATCO on Friday!

That's awesome! What do you think the approximate temp was outside when you tested ^them? I'm curious, because they may get stickier when it's summertime. Good purchase!

Yeah, I'm thinking they'll be even sticker over 60-70*. I'd be happy with those too.

Just got home. Only got 3 runs in on good news/bad news runs. I'll post the slips of you guys like but bad news is I didn't get any faster. Good news is that was because the tires worked so well I could not launch them for ****. I did a 4k dump and bogged. Didn't get a chance for a 5k slip or dump. 12.80 at 109.66 with a 1.918 bogging bad then picking up.

IDK, good news really I think. That means you'll sort it out after a few more runs. That will then probably be your lowest 60ft you've had. My opinion anyways

I agree. Just frustrated because there were no delays per se but it took forever between runs. There literally would be no one running at times lol. Thinking of going back Tuesday, Thursday AND Friday

Not too bad and MPH is up but still bogging. Couldn't get many runs in because the track was having a few simultaneous events since snow and rain has postponed many weekends in a row.

Here are the best slips. If I can get that 60 to at least my previous best when I was on street tires that'd be a new PB easy of 12.4XX with a 111 or higher. If I can master this tire and nail a 1.7XX I'd be in 12. 2XX for sure.

I got a new PB by a pinch. 12.63 at 111.XX with a slightly better 60. Then it bogged a bunch of times

Then it rained twice and the track was never the same after that. At 20 PSI I spun 1st 3 gears.

I ran like 16 times lol.

Recorded a few runs and pulled the slips I wanted. I'll put them all up soon.

I'll be trying again but not until it's warmer out. The cold was killing the tires as well. The car spun more and more as the night went on.

Yes, ATCO is great for actual test and tune hehe.

17 PSi seemed too low so I may go back to 20 PSI. Also will wait until about 60 degrees +

Ha! I rolled my window down the first time out there, right after he wrote my number. The old dude got pissed at me. Oops

Nice time ,it's like that extra weight possibly gives more traction.seeing your results might make me change my mind about going to the track at a 1/4 tank. Just being I'm running on street tires.

Extra weight over the rear wheels sure, but I removed weight which would reduce traction. Either way, my traction "problem" right now is too much traction lol.

Yeah I hear yah , I'm having traction problems even more with the tune I just installed. I don't want to make the jump to dr just yet, not till I've gotten all I can get out of street tires for time comparison any. Probably hit the track next test n tune night . Hoping to hit high 11s low 12s

High 11s will be almost completely out of the question on just a tune but with a low 1.9X 60 foot you may see 12.5s or 12.4s

You're auto if I recall, which tune are you using? I know the tunes make the car shift much sharper
