So I finally got her back to the track...

So today, i decided what the hell, the wife and i were going to go to the track. typically i'm against going on fridays during "grudge night" because they usually do a horrible job prepping the track. At first i wasn't sure if i was going to run but i decided to take my helmet if i chose to.
So my cousin and a few of his import friends were there and talked me into it. Of course with the wife's approval, wink wink..Any way, when my car was bone stock with less than 200 miles on it, i ran a 13.2 @ 108mph with a horrible 2.4 or 2.5 60ft. and 3.55s.
So tonight, with all my current mods and 3.73s my first run was a 13.0 @ 114 with a 2.4 60ft roasting 1st and 2nd. My second run i had a 2.1 60ft but let off because she got real squirrelly and i thought i was going to lose it so i crossed the finish line at 50mph. My third run i managed a 12.4 @ 113.56 with a 2.0 60ft which i was ecstatic about. At this point i was starting to get very comfortable launching the car on stock rubber and full tire pressure and figuring out how much i should burn the tires in the box. So i told my wife, one more run and i'am done for the night, i'm already happy but my goal was to get the 60ft under 2.0 and i knew i could do it. So without further ado, these are the extremely satisfying results from my fourth and final run: a 12.261 @ 114.42mph with a 1.894 60ft. full weight, nothing was taken out and i weigh more than most.
Traction is seriously insanely difficult and i guess the planets aligned as far as all the practice and preparation goes, but i couldn't be happier. I have this goal in mind of hitting the 11's with stock rubber and i will achieve that. Next step is JPC headers, Accel ignition, BBK throttle body, and a BMR rear upper control arm. Attached is a crappy pic of my time slip which i plan on getting framed. This might not be as amazing as i think it is, but i couldn't be happier!

BTW, left lane, car #319
Right lane, Brand New Camaro SS

very nice, these cars a really impressive with what they can do aren't they? I think with a little air taken out of the tires you might be able to control the slippage, but keep going with it because what you are doing is working

Re: So I finally got her back to the track...

the slippage i was talking about was me slipping the clutch. But i agree, tire pressure would help. But im trying to run what i drive everyday and i dont drive with lowered tire pressure.

Re: So I finally got her back to the track...

Nice numbers man. Glad to see you spanked the SS on the track.

I also went to the track tonight but it's only a 1/8 mile. This was only my 2nd time so far. I did 26 runs total over 3 1/2 hours. My best was a 8.888 @ 85.64 with 2.299 60ft. On another run I was very happy getting a .041 R/T but the rest of the number sucked on that run 9.179 @ 81.53 with 2.440 60ft. Most of my runs were low 9's and high 8's. Traction was a problem all night even with a bunch of track prep they were putting down. Dam street tires. lol. My stang is total stock other then Boral S-type. The mod bug will be bitting big time once spring comes.

Thanks man, I'm glad you caught that at the end of the post. I almost forgot to put that in. Your numbers are almost exactly what I was running stock too. The hardest thing is traction. But with practice you'll get her where you want her. Good luck!

Great times on stock tires! I bet you could shave at least a tenth off by holding off until at least 7500 to shift with the boss mani.

My rev limiter is set to 7200. My car is done making power at 6800-7000. With the way my tune is set up and the power I'm making there is no need to over rev the engine.

Nope boss IM. My tuner has been able to still take advantage of the boss up top without having to over rev the coyote. I stand behind him when he says there is no benefit to revving the coyote over 7200 and the tune can be catered to that with the boss IM.

Thanks guys. Wheels and tires will probably be next year, maybe. I have a hard time justifying the $2k investment when I only go to the track maybe 3-5 times a year to run. My goal is 11s on stock rubber. Next mods are headers, ignition, and a throttle body. Hopefully by spring.
