I just found him!
His vids are cool! But he's in California.... Nowhere near Florida!
He will prolly stop by this thread if he sees it!
Oh!
And I have been designing a mount for my iPhone similar to what you did! I am getting ready to make a prototype of sorts!
I'll post some pics when I get it done!

Autocross is usually held in large open parking lots. Really short, twisty obstacle courses. I'd look for a local club or event organizer and go from there. Road racing is a whole different animal though.

I'm looking into getting into with a friend through SCCA this summer. Already got a matching helmet! Go to scca.com and look for your region.

It looks like it hasn't been done in my area in a

How do you use the clutch if your left foot is busy Breaking?
Or
Do you wait till the last moment to switch gears? ---------- Post added at 11:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:27 PM ---------- Quote:

I would just say that power in autoX isn't everything in fact it's maybe one of the minor things. Handling and brakes I would say to upgrade first. Don't be scared to let it rip since that's why you are there for, take you're time on the first one and get a feel for it and the course. Also arive early to see how the track is and we're to hit the apex.

Bring a pad of paper and pen...think about making a quick scribble of the track as you walk it so you can plan ahead as well...even make notes during the day of tires pressures..and the little things like that along with timea

In most autoX they give you a map of how it will be. But yes check all you're fluids and tires. You will have to pass a safety inspection like make sure nothing's loose and you're brakes are good and what not.

There is usually a very experienced autocrosser who will lead a rookie walk and give tips as they walk the course with you.

As others have mentioned, hit the SCCA site. There has to be information available. Being in SoCal, I'm not going to be any use finding something local. You may have to drive a while to get to the site. Even where I am, most of the time I still have to drive 1-2 hours. I'll have two events within a 30 minute drive this year.
You definitely want to get there early so you can do as many course walks as possible and get on the novice walk. I know with Cal Club & San Diego you can also get instructors to ride along for your first times out. Take advantage of any of those opportunities.
Once you find & get to an event you will be hooked. Not that I'm back at it, I can't believe I managed to stay away so long during my hiatus. Now I'm counting the days until the next event (11 and counting...)

SCCA is having a novice intro AutoX at a high school about 20 minutes from me this Saturday and Sunday this weekend. I really wish I could make it, but I already have an engagement I have to go to. Also, I don't know if I want to put my car through it yet when it still has so few miles on it. Probably needs more to break in. Oh well, maybe next time.

How many miles on it? It's really not all that hard on the car, aside from tires and brakes--mostly tires.

I wouldn't worry. I would have run mine at that mileage if my schedule allowed.
Keep in mind an autocross is mostly tight transitions, so it's not like tracking the car. You will likely have only one or two opportunities to got WOT, and that only briefly. You can beat on the engine that way more on the street. At the last one I went to, I got a little bit of good telemetry data (still learning the RaceChrono app), and my peak speed was 50-55mph.

If it does, I won't let my mileage stop me.
