True, OP. what gears do you have and what gears are in the 08 GT. I think that's gonna be the huge difference. The 11v6 has more HP than the 08 GT and the 08 GT has more torque, but the 11v6 has a performance tune and CAI which will easily make up the torque difference and add additional HP on top of the already ahead HP on the 11v6. Unless the 08 Gt is rocking 3:73 or 4;10 gears I say if both drivers are on there"a" game then the 11v6 will take the win.

Stock for stock the 3v wins each time. The '11 V6 with a CAI and tune will more than likely just put on par with the Stock '08 GT. 40 lbs of torque is not some thing your going to make up with just a tune and CAI.

Stock GT runs 13.6-13.8

Modded V6s need more then a tune and CAI to see those times on avg

People need to stop with the driver crap. Sorry but that gets a bit annoying. Compare the car vs car like was originally posted.

Well what people are trying to say, is it's going to be to close to call, it will come down to who can drive better, if you don't like that answer then to bad

Yes we all know it all depends on the driver blah blah blah blah!... Every one and their mother knows that!.. How about contribute some thing useful and stop throwing the "Driver Mod" crap out there. The question posed was one car vs another!.. Not "me and my car vs my buddy and his car"!... If You Don't Like That Answer Then Too Bad!..

Its going to come down to the driver lol. If the driver can launch a 5 speed, I'd say gt wins.

With the tune, I'd say V6. It will be won at the launch and the GT torque will be the deciding factor in 1st

I think with the tune that really closes that torque gap to only maybe 10 more on the 08 GT. That's really nothing. Depending on the gearing of each vehicle that's where its gonna be at and of course the launch. The tuned V6 will have a much better throttle response where the 08Gt is going to have more lag time in the acceleration. I say the V6 for the win. Lol. Either way, it will be a close race

The gap needed to close is what? 60 lb/ft? A tune will not give the V6 60 lb/ft. But yes, the V6 has the edge, but it should be decided on the launch most likely. Get to the track, film it, and bring back the slips and vids op!

The gap between the 08 Gt and 11 plus V6 is 45 lb/ft. 08 Gt has 325, 11 V6 has 280, gap is 45. Depending on the CAI, American Muscle race tune and Airraid CAI is getting 30 torque increase and 22 HP. 45-30 is 15 torque difference. That's nothing. Plus with the amazing shift points, aggressive throttle, 25 more HP, the V6 takes the win. Of course depending on who has what gears is a huge factor. If the 08Gt has 3:55 or 3:73 gears and the sixer has 2:73 gears, 08 Gt is winning by several car lengths.

A 2011 V6 will hit high 13s easily. The GT can see a little higher times but with the tune and intake, edge to the V6

lolwut? That is the only thing that matters in this race. Since the cars are very evenly matched, the driver will determine the outcome. Edge to the V6.

I agree with everything except the torque comment. 15 lb/ft is ABSOLUTELY significant.

Additionally, powerband is a big factor. The V8 holds its torque almost start to finish. I have not seen a V6 dyno to comment. That 15 lb/ft becomes much larger when it is not just at peak.

Additionally, the dyno numbers show a larger gap in wheel torque. After looking at some Tuned V6 dynos, the V6 numbers are similar at peak but the V8 has a significantly better power band, even at stock.

So this race will most likely be decided under 60 MPH.

I'll concur with you good sir. Respectfully, the gearing in each car is going to be huge. If the 08Gt has the factory 3:15 gears and say the OP has 3:55 or 3:73 gears. That's going to be huge because the v6 is going to hit its power band way quicker than the 3:15 geared 08Gt even with the 15 extra torque. The 08 will be playing catch up and behind because of the gearing. The new v6 models really peak and excel in there mid to high power band with that fancy 6 speed. Depending on the tune, one can really improve on the down low off line power, mixed with 3:55 or 3:73 gears, that's gonna pull really great off the line. Then the mid power kicks in and the 08 Gt is still looking at the rear plate of the sixer. Heck, if the OP is running a hybrid tune, then really watch out because that's even more aggressive than the race tune. That is full max power low, mid and high with that tune.

The V8 generally has either 3:31 or 3:55. Gearing is worth a couple tenths, and I agree this race can be decided by a couple of tenths.

2011 V6 ratios are 2.73 or 3:31.

The "hybrid" tune dynos show the powerband still lower. 3:55 are sluggish but on the 6 speed V6, not as much. You can SAY those things but the track E.T. is all that matters and when researching all dynos and/or ET runs, most, I'd say 7 out of 10 have those Mods allowing the V6 to catch up to a stock 08 GT. That being said, I still give the edge to the V6 as I've said because after first gear, torque is less of a factor and the longer gears are better for long races as cars make torque not HP. HP being a multiplication of torque over an RPM range. So, a poorly geared V6 may still have the advantage as since the racing being so close already, you want to shift less often

OP, please keep us updated as to who came out on top. Either way it should be a very close race. I think your buddy with the 08Gt has the pressure on him to win. Lol. If you lose, your expected to lose against the V8 because its a V6. If you win then your buddy gets ragged on that his V8 lost to a V6. Lol.

You guys gotta remember that the HP and TQ numbers you guys have been throwing out is the peak power. A V8 will be able to keep a good amount of power through the entire powerband while the V6 won't. It the GT gets a good launch and hits his shifts I'd put my money on the GT

Both manual, the weight is almost identical. Both under 3475

I've done that race. I have a 06 gt and my buddy had a brand new 13 v6 and I took him easy. I was shifting at 5k instead of 6 and still took him. Gt >v6

So your 06gt had the same exact gears as your buddies 13 v6? Also was your buddy running a performance tune and CAI as well.

I have to side with you here. There is NO WAY he beat his friend "easy" shifting at 5k. On stock gears the 4.6 DIES shifting at 6200 from 2nd to 3rd. Shifting at 5k from 2nd to 3rd would net the GT a 14 second time or slower. No way. Not happening.

Only 2 things happened here. Liar or One bad driver, and one worse driver.
