Opened It Up

Broke down and went WOT ripping through the gears in my 13GT yesterday. Holy fun. This car is way faster than I originally thought.

Just to benchmark it I raced my buddies modded 00GT. His car beat my 2011 Vette, but not this car. Fun and addicting - loves to rev.

Disclaimer, we were at a track so the general public wasn't in harms way.

Was more than likely the Vette driver! Was an automatic and I was paddle shifter illiterate.

Yea, they are intuitive if you are driving like a human but the second you want to get on it a bit they aren't as easy. Mind you it could have been user error as I rarely used them. They just never seemed to be in the right gear to me.

Since you can not talk about street racing, the racing section is only for real racing. If you raced at a track, and can't provide a slip, then the entire topic is moot.

Or of course....ahem.

11 C6 Vettes have entered high 11s. If he can beat your Vette, he can beat your GT. Fact.

The factor here being many variables, mainly each car running different times during each race.

Even a pic of the slip or at the track is not that hard to get.

How so? Unless they just threw the slips away. You even get slips and files at road course and autocross events.

****, what track and even times types out lol

Some people go to the track with there buddy's and race them and don't even stop at the time-slip booth, so what might interest you might not mean shlt to others....

I personally get the slip, look at it and throw it in the glove box which I later throw away

Very rarely the case with people who own fast cars such as Vette and 5.0 owners.

Yawn, getting bored with this thread.....and I'm the one who started it. Honestly, could care less who believes me, doesn't believe me, is questioning if I've owned/ever saw/can spell Corvette. I've had more expensive cars than the Vette (C55 AMG) and faster ones as well (2010 Grand Cherokee SRT). I average a car per year and each one I modify and then dump because I either get bored or just want something different.

The point of the thread was completely missed. The car surprised me, and in a very very good way. I used to joke about them when I went to the track with the GCSRT crowd ( the Vette never saw the track so I'll leave that story alone) and now I proudly own one and have a great respect for them and what they can become. From the minute I test drove it I knew I'd been wrong all along about the breed - actually said that to my salesperson. Hell, even walked away from the first drive to clear my head for a few days before going back to drive it again. Thought I had finally lost my mind even considering a Mustang.

How many other threads do you see out there that say, "you know what, I owned a new Corvette but I'm enjoying the Mustang more". That's the point of the story. Not a 60 ft time, not a 1/4 mile time, not a trap speed, not my tire pressure, how far above sea level, the temperature that day, what I was wearing and so on and so on......the point of that type of data is simply to argue and/or prove disprove. Wasn't the intent of the post at all.

That being said I'm off to hang out in the "new member introduction" forum so every time someone says, with excitement in their voice, that "I just got a <insert year and engine type here>", I can be the first to say, "prove it".

All of the above was stated with no ill will - I respect everyone's opinions and takes on the subject. Just want people to see a different perspective is all.

Have a good one and enjoy your cars.

Or if the track has a street night where there's no slips and they don't post times. Our track generally does it at half cost compared to a TNT night.

There is no way for any of us to really know that.

And still no time.

A track thread without numbers is like a cellphone with no dial pad.

All of this is possible (which I have never heard of untimed runs) but he didn't provide any info as to any scenario. This thread is in e-limbo lol. No direction.

You mean how EVERY forum asks you to post? Because no one ever lies on the internet behind the comfort of a IP address? Because he should be able to say whatever he wants and then misinformation goes to someone thinking they're going to walk a C6 vette?

In more sophisticated, maturely policed forums you can't post a time without a slip. Often more than on to repeat the time and eliminate track error.

Everyone wants a pat on the back for everything they spew.
