First time at the track

As stated first time back on a strip in 10 plus years , 2010 GT no mods, street tires , just a regular launch no slipping the clutch hooked ok in first but got a little side ways in second. To be honest I was nervous as hell and expected much worse. Probably would have launched harder but while I was just watching to get my nerve up a dude in a pos Buick broke his axel and went down the track sideways , lets just say that didn't help my confidence any because I had my wife in my ear saying don't break anything.
Anyway time to start the mods , going LCA's , axels 4.10 gears ( 3.31's are killing me ) and tune with CAI probably skinnies and Drag radials also just not sure what size to go with any suggestions? Like back spacing and tire size and rim size?

I just went to track for the third time and man it gets addicting! You should cover some good ground with those mods

Hey nice job. As you know the more you run, the better your reaction time will get. Keep us posted.

VERY difficult to break something on street tires. Solid axles are especially tough. You'll be fine

2.296 is not hooking "ok" hehe but you have to start somewhere. 2.0 60 or even 2.1 and you have yourself 100MPH+ and 14.0 or 13.9.

Lets also remind him, that reaction time has no bearing on ET

My reference, was to his statement about being nervous. But as you stated reaction time has no bearing on ET. OK

He did good I must say.

My friend owned an EVO X and could just not get the tree down. Kept rolling forward. Tripping the light. They'd call him back. He was so embarrassed it ruined his nerves even further. 15.4s at 95

How so? As far as I've researched if he goes with 4.10s then that tire is close to the overall diameter that he needs.

As cool as 325's would look that might be to much tire for the strip on my stock trans ,clutch and axles, not to mention I think it would bog down on launch , but I don't know like I said I'm getting back into this after 10 + years so I appreciate all the input

I do have 2 weld pro stars 15x8 but I am not sure what the backspacing is I think it's 5 or 5.5 haven't had time to try and see

The reason i mentioned that size is cuz that's what Brenspeed Mustang is running on all they're cars, check them out if you haven't yet.

And I'm also gonna be using that setup but haven't been to the track with it yet so can't speak from personal experience...

Here's a pic of my car with them on!

Nice , brenspeed also probably has their axle gear and locker kit that they sell also which I plan on getting so maybe that would work.

Well a little update went back to the track tonight car is still all stock minus the shifter , ran 6 times against my cousins 04 Mach 1 it was his fist time down the track and he did quite well for a first time . My best 60ft was on run #1 but my best time and his best time was run #4 it was much better than my first time with the car.

I really need to get rid of the 3:31's and get LCA's and a tune /CAI .

Oh and for some reason when I cross the trap I'm still in 3rd @ about 5500 to 5800 rpm is this because of the gears or just me.
