2013 GT vs. 2013 Challenger

This guy I know wants to race at Atco. He has a 2013 Challenger SRT8 pretty much stock (exhaust). My 13 GT is stock except for Roush axle back. I told him that he probably shouldn't race...because for what he paid for that barge of a Mopar POS, he may end up in tears.

Anybody race against one of these?

Oops I meant 2012 SRT8.

Race him and find out. He will have a bit more power than you but you weigh less and depending in your gearing could have an edge there too.

There's one right in front of me, the best he's done so far is 13.90 and a couple 14.2. I'm not sure what year it is.

I have driven a 2012 challenger srt8 and I own a 2013 gt. the challenger is pretty powerful but not even close to the 5.0. The challenger is just to heavy. The only thing that I could see that would be a problem for the gt is that its not easy to get traction. The challenger can catch pretty easily.

What year challenger did they start putting the 392 hemi. The one I drove wasn't the 392. It was the 6.1 hemi I think it was a 2012.

Think it'll be a drivers race this time. They started putting the 392 in the 2012s. Don't miss a gear and you should have him. When the Challenger first came out, I saw one run low 13s on street tires. It was completely stock, still had the dealership tag and window sticker. Lol.

Your going to eat his lunch if your a decent driver. My 3.7 with CAI, tune, drive shaft and 3.73 gears gets them by almost .3 when I can get her to hook up. Granted, I have beaten a few 5.0's as well but I have also been beaten by 5.0's... And that brings me back to it depending on the driver and how well you can launch your car.

Omg, for a v8, hemi. My 3.7, 11 will destroy that and I'm all N/A and running factory tires. Ba ha ha ha ha. Of course I am running 91 hybrid tune, CAI, aluminium driveshaft, 3:73 gears, BBK ceramic headers, off road x pipe and Flowmaster axle backs.

I had fun when I drove a friend of mines srt8. It inspired me to get a mustang again lol. I've been wanting to test drive one of the new sixxers and see what there all about.

Yes sir. No doubt. With a few mods the newer v6's can move real well. Especially for a car that can be had brand new for around 25k with all the mods I have. How many new 25k cars today can run low 13's. Not many.

Doesn't matter what it Felt like. They trap 115 MPH stock with average driver. They will run a low 12 out the door on an auto with a competent driver and launch control and will run a mid 12 on a manual normally.

Fanboyism is not a replacement to facts. A 13 SRT8 Challenger is faster by a pinch. That's a fact.

Mod for mod it will also was away steadily. The difference is that for the money, it's a poor purchase vs a 5.0.

What do you mean doesn't matter what it feels like? Fanboyism? And facts. What are you talking about?

I wouldn't say the challenger is a "POS." they're cool and classy in their own way, same as a camaro and a mustang. Just because its slow due to it being a fatty doesn't make it a crappy car, I'd sport one for a daily driver.

The challenger is really cool. I love the mustang but the challenger is really a true muscle car. Its got a huge engine, it's big, heavy and hard to handle. I have had mustangs for years and then got a truck and didn't have a mustang. I drove my buddy's challenger and 3 weeks later I traded my truck in for a mustang. I got to say if it wasnt for the challenger I wouldn't have a mustang for a while at least and I wouldn't be on this forum lol.

The Challenger is a nice car, I say POS because anything Mopar=no car. I've owned a few Dodges and won't own one again lol.

Yesterday me and a buddy got to drive on a runway at a closed airport. The runway surface isn't great because its a small airport been closed a long time. 5,700' runway and its not flat. I ran a 1/4 mile using the track apps. How accurate is that thing? Has anyone compared it at the track? It said I ran a 1/4 in 13.2@108mph. That was my best time and damn near broke traction on my 3rd-4th shift. I'm thinking on a drag strip that should be high 12's because the surface yesterday was terrible.

I do agree with you to a point. I think there interiors on all dodges are a POS. but you gotta love hemi motors and jeeps are pretty bad A** off road vehicles.
