auto or manual? Either way, don't mash the gas off the line cause you will spin the tires and go nowhere, ease into it.

Dont go on green, go on the light right before green then you'll leave on time. Otherwise you'll start late

+1 leave on the last yellow so by the time you react and get moving it will be green

Time don't start till you break the plane, race yourself not the guy next to you...excitement the first times leads to bad times

^ This is great advice! Race yourself, not the guy next to you. That will be your best bet, the clock won't start until you break the plane like gsmash mentioned! With those mods and a good launch you should be able to break into the 13's.

Remember to have fun! Let us know how you do.

Once you break 13.5 seconds, you'll be required to run a roll bar on a NHRA track.

I'm running 13.4's out here in Vegas in a convertible and would like to go faster but only requirement for me is I have to wear a helmet. Anyone out here in Vegas running faster than 13.99 in Coupe or Convertible is required to wear a helmet.

Yup, that's a standard rule. I haven't broken into 13s yet with my 01 Bullitt but that's because I've only been 2 times and suck at launching.

For a newbie, this is not the best 'first time' advice.

Starting late will NOT affect his time in any way, shape or form. It will only allow him to lose to a similarly powered car easier.

In the end OP, race against yourself before you try to smoke the person next to you until you get some reasonably good times.
