First track runs

Finally got my '13 to the track tonight. Made 4 runs, best was 12.94@111 and second best was 12.95@108. I'm just glad I broke into the 12's. I would have been pretty disappointed to not do that. All things considered, here's what I figure.

Not bad numbers considering the car is pretty much bone stock. The Roush exhaust makes more noise than it does power. The car is TERRIBLE with getting traction. My first run I told my buddy that I was literally just going to hammer the throttle, and I did just that. Dumped the clutch @2k and didn't get traction until I was halfway through 3rd. Ran a 13.7. The rest of my runs were all about getting a good launch and I really couldn't better that 12.94, the car just won't let you get into 1st and second hard.

The second thing is, this stock shift bracket has got to GO! When you watch the video I'm going to post, pay attention to the 2-3 shift. There's a brief delay in the shift because if I didn't do that, it never goes into 3rd!

Next time I go I am going to put my buddies 17" wheels with drag tires on the back and see if I can improve on that. I'm thinking if I can get a 1.9 60ft, I should pull a 12.6 or maybe even a 12.5 if those drag slicks let me put it down. Fun night though, and pretty impressive for a stock $30k car!

Nice man, get some traction with those tires and you'll definitly cut a few tenths off that time! Does the track have a radio frequency or somthing that you are listening to through your speakers? I have never seen any other videos where its like that. Then again I'm a noob and have never been to the track so they all might be like that haha

Yeah they have a radio station to tune in to at the track to hear the announcer. I only had it on because he gave the times just after you went through the trap. Pretty cool too.

I got those el cheapo crap Sumoho tires or whatever. They suck. You could hear in the videos even launching as slow and easy as I did, they still chirped.

If you do put the slicks or drag radials you will see a massive improvement. Might take you a few passes to get the launch down

Without mastering the street tires, drag radials will also be difficult.

a 1.9 is easily attainable on stock tires. You have a 12.5 in there easy with your MPH

Yeah I'll tell ya, these tires suck. The right lane on the track was horrible. Launching the way I did in the video would have spun tires like crazy in the right lane. I definitely need some practice getting off the line quickly.

Not bad, atleast you hit 12's. you couldnt hook because burning up the stock tires release oils. Shift faster once you get that bracket.

12.7 at 111mph runs. I ran BF Goodrich GForce Comp 2's. 275/40/19. i lowered tire pressure to 25psi. It seemed to work cause the other runs were 13.0 and 12.8 when tire pressure was 35.
