Pretty disappointed!

So I went to my local track this weekend, and I am not happy with my time. I am running an 11.7 in the 1000ft. My friend in his 03 GT is running 10.5's with slicks. . Why is his time more than a second faster?! Is it because he has slicks and 4.10's when I'm on street tires with 3.55's?

Most likely due to his shorter gearing and extra traction due to slicks. I also think that the new edges have a small advantage when it comes to weight. But you have more HP, i would say it could be due to a good launch and slicks and some nice shifting.

I was thinking the same thing. He also has a lot of stuff taken out of his car, sway bars, bumper supports, etc. I have some drag radials, and I am swapping my 4.10's in this week. Hopefully that will help my time.

You will definitely see some better times with gears and radials. If the 03 is a full bolt on he might still be able to get close to you what other mods are you and him running?

He is full bolt on except headers, he also has a tune. I have Comp Cam Mutha Thumpa cams, BBK 62mm throttle body, JLT CAI, my heads are Ported and polished, I have a tune, and I have full exhaust, w/ longtubes.

You need gears to get that low end back from the cams.

And get some actual good cams. Those Mutha Thumprs are almost only good for sound.

Damn, I pulled 11.2 in the 1000ft on 275/40/18 NT555s with 3:31 gears and only a tune/cai. The slicks definitely help him but they shouldn't be that significant unless he has the power to use them.

I got 4.10's put in on Tuesday. Hopefully this weekend I can hit low 11's. I will probably run my drag radials too.

I also bogged every single time, even launching at 3500 it still bogged a little. I think it's just because of my cams and gearing.

How do you find the difference between the 3.55 and 4.10? Looking at installing mine tomorrow.

I like them. I don't get much traction through second gear, but it pulls a lot better. Gas mileage didn't change a whole bunch. Two or three MPG, but if I really cared about gas mileage I would have got a Prius.

I am wondering why you even asked this question. It seems like you already knew the answer ._.
