Well another season is gone and I still haven't hit 14s. The final test and tune is tonight and I work until 7, so I won't be able to go. I'm thinking of trying to get a couple things over the winter to try and get me into the 14s but I don't quite know where to start. My thoughts were a FTBR bushing kit and some drag radials on a different set of wheels. I really wanna try the bigs and littles look but I'm pretty sure my parents will kill me if I get a another set of wheels and tires to store in their garage. All this talk of nitrous on the forum lately has got me thinking about throwing a small shot on the car, but I don't want to give up the already limited trunk space I have to a bottle. What's everyone's thoughts on what I should do next? I'm open to ideas though funds are gonna be limited

My vote is for the bushings first. I think that you can break into the 14's but you're going to have to beef up the suspension a bit so that youll feel a little more comfortable beating the hell out of the car on the first 60 feet of the track. Your reaction time is good, you just need to work out the launch so that you can achieve your goal.
The wheels shouldn't be a problem. Just stack them flat, eight high in the garage. They'll fit. Your parents probably won't even notice! Lol.

I think that you did alright this year. If I remember correctly, the only thing that you changed from last year is the gears. Your corrected times seem to be in line with the mods on your car.

Yep gears were the only things I changed this year. I'm sure i could launch pretty hard on the stock bushings if I had a tire with a tall sidewall. The guy I traded with was running 11s on that same IRS, so I'm sure it could handle it. The toughest decision with doing the bushings is trying to decide if I want to do them myself or pay a shop to do it.

I don't know anything about them. Are they hard to do?

You'll be able to get into the 14's on DR's.

Well you have to drop the whole IRS to do them and from what I've seen it's a wise decision to have a torch laying around. I would assume a shop will charge $500+ to install them.

I know some DRs can get me there, it's just gonna be interesting learning how to use them. I'm not exactly a big fan of doing burnouts

Well now there is this matter of breaking into the 14's, at the highest elevation drag strip in the world, that needs attending to.
No more excuses, "the density altitude is too high" or "my car is only running on 7 cylinders". We are expecting at least a 14.9 out of the new 8 cylinder Corvette!

Haha if I can't knock a 14.9 or better, I will drive out and hand over the keys to you! I would say that it's almost impossible for me to run something that slow with such a fast car, but I witnessed a buddy with a 400awhp evo run a best time of 14.5 all day, so I'm a little hesitant to make a statement like that.

I should be going out to the track sometime in the next month so I'll make a V2.0 track thread for the Vette. It's gonna be a battle between me and my buddy with a red Evo X to see who can knock down a faster time.

Since the Corvette is around a second and a half faster than the GT, I don't think that low 14's will be too much of a problem. It will be interesting to see if you will be able to break into the 13's now! With the car stock anyways. On paper, and doing a little "ricer math" comparing your previous times, that car should be capable of 13's. But at that track, all bets are off! Lol.

I was actually trying my launches last night and so far it seems to get off the line very easy so launching at the strip shouldn't be a problem. I'm hoping to hit a 13 and then slowly whittle that down further. I really wanna see if this thing is faster than that red Evo my buddy has. Him and I have a long standing Competition going for who's faster and I've been losing for the past 4 years

Alright time to resurrect this again. I'm heading to the track and figured I'll just continue this thread instead of starting a new one.

For those who don't know, I've got a supercharged 01 Bullitt now. Mods are as follows:
-Vortech V2 S-trim non-intercooled 11psi
-FRPP aluminum driveshaft
-FRPP shorty headers
-BBK catted h-pipe
-Bassani catback
-3.73 gears
-H&R Supersports
-285/40R18 Nitto 555s in back
-426whp 397wtq

I'm expecting traction to be a major issue on the launch, but my initial goal is high 13's. For those who don't feel like reading through the thread, the track is sitting at just about 5,300 ft of elevation and DA's usually average in the 7-8000 range.

I'm excited!

That car has to have a low 13 in it.

First run is in after waiting about 2 hours in line. I'm left lane and my buddy with an intake/exhaust/tune C7 is in the right lane (he needs a driver mod really bad).

The corrected time for a supercharged car is 12.625@115 mph.

Nice run....but you sat for 2 hours to get in one run? On a Wednesday night? I did 14 runs tonight in 2 hours...no word of a lie. I think my head would explode if I only got in one run in 2 hours!

Yeah test and tune nights get pretty busy around here. We had an easy 150+ cars and someone dumped some sort of fluid all the way down the track. Cleanup took an hour by itself.

I only got 2 runs in tonight and I would be lying if said I wasn't passed off about it. My second run wasn't as good as my first unfortunately. I'm pleased with how the car ran but I wish I could have gotten some more time on track.

Nothing like embarrassing a Corvette at the strip.

Sorry, I saw a crowd and got a little distracted! I'll try to pay more attention to where I'm going next time.

Hey now take it easy on the Corvette talk, this is my old one and I plan on buying another. That being said, I mostly beat the driver and not the car. Plus being at altitude with the DA's we get really does not help an N/A car.

I think that your car can easily run mid 12's with some drag radials. There was quite a bit left on the table in the first 60'.

And it doesn't matter how it happened... You smoked that Vette.

Yeah my car needs some serious suspension and tire work. There's plenty left in my times but I know that I'm gonna have a tough time squeezing out the faster times.

What was your 60ft time? It looks like you launched at an idle. The car still lost traction though.

I think you could have seen a high 12.

2.2 60' I launched at about 3k, but had more traction than expected. I think the spinning you heard was from my buddy in the other lane. It most definitely has more in it but I think I need to go to a different set of springs if I want to capitalize on a good launch
