AOD with a TCI Valve Body

I'm new to AOD transmissions and I may sound like a stooge but I need straightened out on some things. I have an AOD that I'm getting ready to stick a TCI constant pressure valve body in. Am I correct in my thinking that, once I install the valve body, I can then adjust the TV cable to get the shift points where I want them without worrying with destroying the transmission?? The shift points are not working right now. When I wind it out and do the 1-2 shift it practically goes straight to 3rd.
