2013 5.0 vs 1990 5.0 FoxBody

ALL RACING WILL BE DONE AT THE TRACK!

Sorry if this thread has already been posted, but i looked and couldn't find an answer to my question.

'13 5.0 - 6 Speed
I have the basic bolt ons, cat deletes, Bassani x pipe, Roush mufflers, Boss Mani, Steeda 101m intake, hurst short throw, and a BAMA 91 race tune. 295/35/20 NITTO INVOS out back.

'90 5.0 FoxBody - 5 speed
Ported Gt40 Heads, unknown cam, MSD Ignition, drag radials, built rear end (not sure of the gears), full interior, and a 150-200 shot (not sure what shot he's running now) and I'm not sure what else it has, but i think thats pretty much everything.

Anyways, he says he could walk me, said he ran 11.9 on the nitrous.

So my question is obvious, would i be able to take him? Or will he really walk me?

Thanks in advance.

Your car is potentially a high 11 low 12 but that's on slicks. How it is now he would win pretty bad. Ive learned my lesson on racing foxes that you don't know about. Very light car that is quick. Most new 5.0 will run a high 12 low 13. And with a 200 shot he is probably well over your horsepower anyways. If he is only hitting a 11.9 with a 200 shot he is lying to you. That's a high 10 car lol

Yeah thats what i was thinking when he said "200 shot" so i should do some more work first? Or ask him if he wants to race without his nitrous?

That fox is likely a mid/high 12 second car on motor.

If that Fox is running a true 200 shot, it should be a solid 10 second car, easily.

For example, in my Z28, a 150 shot dropped my ET by 1.4 seconds and I picked up 14 MPH. That's on street tires with a ton of wheel spin in 2nd, 3rd and 4th and not spraying in first gear. That fox should pick up more than that with a 200 shot.

If his trap speed is around 115 MPH, he might be telling the truth and just has a crap car.

If he beats you, spray a 150 shot and smoke him.

Yeah I was assuming he would get me, but he claims he runs mid 11's or so on spray. So even all motor ill still loose?

My Z28 runs 12.8 @ 115 on motor and 11.4 @ 129 on a 150 shot, severely traction limited and it's easily capable of much faster times with a good tire and suspension. My Z28 is running regular street tires and is not setup for the strip at all. It's a roll race / autocross type car.

So, seeing what a 150 shot did on my car, I think you should be able to pull him if he is not spraying. That is if he is honestly running an 11.9 with a 200 shot. If he is, that car is a turd with and without spray.

If its got a 150 shot then 11.9 sounds about right with not the greatest drive and on motor it would be a good race

---------- Post added at 09:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:06 PM ----------

And if that fox is got a stock block I got my money on it only having a 150 shot at the most

You will get raped if he's on the sauce. Race him all motor and roles will be reversed.

Yeah, I'm considering doing a 75 or 100 shot with AM's NX kit, but I've never dealt with nitrous before so I'm a little nervous about it.

I think you could hang with this foxbody pretty good on all motor and on a 150 shot. I've owned and raced anything from a Foxbody to my Current 2011 GT and everything in between. I have the same basic bolt ons as you on my 2011 GT and on a 90* day I was able to run an 11.87@119.8. If the DA wasn't at 2,800 feet that day and it was a bit cooler, it would have easily been an 11.4-11.5 pass!

Have you seen our AM Foxbody Project Car? We built this car of from a complete junk yard dog, to a sub 12 second beast. However, with full bolts, built top end and a Supercharger we were able to run an 11.6@120. Now keep in mind we did have some clutch issues after the first few passes, but that car makes 460 RWHP! I think if you have Slicks and Skinnies and you race him on Motor, you're going to win. If you race him on a 150 shot, it will be one hell of a race!

Keep us posted and let us know how you do. Remember it's all about having fun at the track with your buddies, nothing personal there so why not run him!

don't bet money, that's my 2 cents but still race...(at the track)

nitrous is fun and easy, dangerous and scary.
