I guessed that just because I'd the HP difference, and it being an auto.

Well the 84 is sometimes called the weakest corvette ever and it's top speed is right around 120.

Even though that vette is lucky to hit 190hp... It'll still probably best your V6.

My grandfather owns a 1982 corvette, it's not fast but it will defiantly take down a v6 stang.

I seem to remember the 84's having a top speed the low 140's.

Yep:

1984 Chevrolet Corvette (C4) - Archived Road Test - Car Reviews - Car and Driver

About 2 seconds faster in the 1/4 than a '98 V6 Mustang.

Probably the Pinto/Mustang in one of the slowest races to ever happen.

How about this one ....

A 99 Camaro Z28 6spd vs a 94 Mustang GT 5spd ... both with mods.

The specs the Camaro -
TSP MS3 cam
TFS valve springs
TSP 7.4 hardened pushrods
LS6 243 heads
LS2 timing chain
ASP underdrive pulley
LPE 160 thermostat
LPE high volume oil pump
LS6 intake
coated pacesetter header
TSP offroad Y pipe
TSP rumbler catback
TNT twister series nitrous (150 shot)
SLP line lock
MAC girdle
Racetronix 255 with rewire
LS6 master cylinder
LS6 slave cylinder
Level 5 - T56 *currently being built by RPM Transmissions*
Pro5.0 shifter with TNA short stick
Spec Stage 3 clutch
SFI Flywheel
Eibach sportline springs
Car weighs 3,420 Lbs with full tank of fuel and no driver.
Still running the stock 10 bolt with 3.42 gears.

Car produces 436rwhp @ 6300 and 403lbs ft @ 4900 on motor, nitrous will not be used.

The specs on the Mustang -
347 forged stroker
Eagle 4340 crank
Eagle 4340 h-beam rods
SRP inverted domed pistons 9.2:1
.542 lift intake and exhaust
36 lbs injector
professional product aluminum intake system
Pro Topline aluminum heads with 200cc intake runner 2.02, 1.60 valves
80mm polished throttle body
75mm mass airflow
BBK shorty headers and H-pipe with 40 series Flowmaster exhaust system
MSD 6AL CD Ignition
Vortech V1 running 10PSI
TKO 600 5 Speed
Spec Stg 3
Auburn Posi LSD
Moser 31 spline axles
aftermarket rear suspension

This car supposedly makes 430rwhp and 484rwtq.

Any ideas on which car would win?

Why yes ... yes it is.

The real winner is of course ....... Me.

I am still dealing with tuning issues on the Mustang but it's getting there. I will say the Mustang sounds awesome with the V8 noises and the supercharger whine.

However, I don't think this Mustang has the testicular fortitude to run with the Z28. At least not currently and likely not without a few more PSI of boost.

20 or so years ago I had an '80 B210 as a beater for going back and forth to work. I actually had a 3 cyl. Geo Metro leave me like I was sitting still (I almost was). I would have to go with the Pinto.

Hahaha

My father had one new in 78, said it was the slowest car he's ever owned. But damn it got good gas mileage back then. Lol

Well just get a Mach if the year is the only reason you don't want to. I almost picked up a 95 cobra with a v3 from a buddy of mine. Completely built 347 with 13 psi 3.73 gears 31 spline axles full suspension and a 6 speed manual trans. But I found the Mach instead lol.
