Z/28

Everybody here will be happy to know that my 2011 lightly modified GT beat a brand-new Camaro Z 28 two out of three times on the Quarter mile at Palm Beach raceway. Just sayin....

Yeah stock for stock we all know the Coyote is a little faster though once the modding starts the extra cubes on the LSx really start coming into play. He who has the most money wins.

He said brand new, that would be the one with the LS7, the one costing an absurd 75K.

Yes the new Z28 is slower than the 5.0 at the drag strip.

The Z28 was not built for the drag strip. It was built for the road course

Yeah, we beat it on the strip, it kills us on the road course

I imagine a driver mod and the Z/28 would walk a bolt on Coyote at the drag strip, considering that the new Z/28 is running 12.1-12.3 @ 117-118 mph straight off the showroom floor. Once these get into more peoples hands at good tracks with good air, I expect to see mid-high 11's and low-mid 120's for traps, totally stock.

Also, it's an LS7, with just an intake, throttle body, full exhaust and tune, they are putting down right around 500whp (485-510 rwhp depending on dyno and conditions).

600whp is possible with bolt ons + heads/cam/intake. That's not bad for NA.

The LS7 is honestly very de-tuned from the factory to make it more civilized. With a little bit of money thrown at it, it can become nasty.

Coyote will run 12.1-12.3 with right driver and tires 100% stock.

Fastest Bolton manual is 10.4 actual Boltons.

His top time was 12.5 at about 114 if remember correctly. Mostly he ran 12.8-12-9.

He can't drive. Bone stock auto, and manual GT's beat that.

By bolt ons, I'm talking CAI, tune, full exhaust, throttle body. Stock suspension, no intake, nothing of that sort, no weight reductions either.

12.22 @ 115.18 is fastest stock Coyote I'm aware of. That was with a -1700 DA.

That DA was likely responsible for near .3 seconds. Not take anything away from it, but the production Z/28's haven't seen good air yet.

jpc went. 10.7 with cai, tune, exhaust, converter, gears and tires. Stock manifold.

Then they beat that with heads/ cams/ manifold was a high

But you are right about fastest recorded bone stock time 100 % stock was 12.2, he then ran 11.9 with a tune everything else bone stock.

But there have been plenty of people running 12.1-12.3's with nothing more than a tire

Also I would get rid of my 5.0 with everything done to it in a heart beat for a new Z28 the white one.

From a purchasing standpoint I would pick up a used zr1 for the price of a Z28 first thogh.

I'm going to have a vette be long point that for sure lol

I'd take the new Z06 over the Z/28 any day. I'd take a base stingray with Z51 package over the Z/28

Eghhhh. When I get my vette it will be a 12-13 c6 grand sport.
I do not want a c6 z06, not a big fan of there paper thin cylinder walls.
Grand sport yes for me

Nice, I just like the C7 styling and engines better.

Grand sport is the best bang for the buck. I have to agree with you on the 12-13 GS. I like the stingray but I'd be ok with GS

IMHO, I don't think they look like Corvettes anymore. More like a Ferrari/Vette hybrid which I think is what they were going for actually...

The C7 didn't really grow on me too much until i saw it in person. Even then it still seemed like it was lacking something, then i saw the ground effects the Z06 is supposed to have. And that was it, i love it now..... And don't get me started on the interior. AGES better than the C6. I frickin love the interior.

Based on the interior, it isn't even the same car. Man I want the C7, in any form, base with Z51, 2015 Z06, or (preferably) the 2015 Z06 with the Z07 package.

A fully loaded Z06 is going to be a 6 figure car.
