Track Tires

Looking to see what you guys use for road course tires. Right now I use Bridgstone Potenza S-04 Pole Position(max summer) but they discontinued my size...

Need to find a tire that is at or around these sizes:
245/45-19
275/40-19

Wheel Sizes:
19x8.5
19x10
I was thinking about going down to a 18inch wheel becuase tires are much more common but with the gt500 brakes I have I need to stick to at least a 19inch

If anyone has recommendations let me know my main goal is to find an rcomp in this size but not sure if its possible.

I think Hankook makes a good tire in that size. They are model ventus v12

I've been running those tire sizes on my GT500 19/9.5 inch rims. BFG Comp 2's. They do really well on the track but after 13k miles and 6 track days they are definitely getting worn edges. 245's really weren't the best choice for 9.5 rims though. I would square them up next time to 275s all around so they can be rotated.
I went to a track school where they were running Boss cars with 275's all around but I think they were 18 inchers.

Looks like a good tire. I get rubbing now with 255 on the front due to offset of the AMR wheels. I would love to go bigger to prevent push but not sure if they would fit.

Do you know what track school? Id like to get in touch and see if they have input on R-comps.

Chuckwalla Valley Racing - 50 miles outside of Palm Springs, CA. I know they were running 275's but forget the brand. Their website is something like CVR.com

The tire you mentioned is not an R Comp, but it is a mid-range street tire. An example of an R Comp would be the new Hoosier R7 (which may be purchased in that size). The Ventus V12 is another example of a mid range street tire. What level of performance are you looking for, do you use these tires away from the track, and what is the price range you are looking for?

So I got in touch with them and they all run a Falken Azenis tire. I have spoken also with a Falken dealer and struck out as far as size NOTHING in 19in....thanks for the help though!

I know my current tire is not an R-comp but the need has triggered the search for one. I did look up the "Hoosier R7" and these may work! Here are listed sizes for tire rack in 19in...

P235/35ZR19
295/30ZR19 89W
P315/30ZR19 93W
P325/30ZR19 94W
P345/30ZR19 98W

235 for the front and 315 for the rear might work.....bit of a reach though. I did also find wheels with the correct offset to fit my brake package with 18in size. (Boss 302S wheels) @ 650 each I am not super excited but can commit if its the only way to run proper tires with my big brake kit.

Hoosier R6 mentioned in your signature come it perfect sizes!!!

I think you've done it sir I'm ordering now. Seems to be Exactly, what I am looking for and at half the price of the Bridgstones I currently run for a street/track combo.

Fingers crossed they are in stock somewhere close.

One thing to keep in mind is that the A6 and R6 were just discontinued in favor of the A7 and R7. That said, corvette guys regularly sell lightly used A/R6's that they used only once for qualifying (still have most of the tread), and only one heat cycle (extremely important, the Hoosiers start great, but after a few heat cycles, start to drop off, but they are hands down the best if you look at the results archives).

Take a look at Vorshlag, they sell a wheel that will fit your calipers with no trouble. They are the Forgestar F14 in 18x11, $1400 for a set of four.
