Well, this past weekend I made my 4th or 5th outing to my local track. I am still on stock 245 size Michelin Sport All seasons. To compensate for the lack of traction from previous outings, my buddy sprayed the tires down in Track Bite (VHT) and let it soak in to soften them. Pulled up to the burnout box and after letting go of the clutch, the rpms shot up to 6k and a BIG thump from the rear. Had to be pushed off the track and had to be towed home. That was fun...
After it went into the shop the diagnosis was a broken drivers side axle.
The irony was before that "run" my buddies and I were talking about how much longer those stock axles still had...
Previous outing time was a 11.5 in the 1000ft which is a 13.8 in the 1320
Not terrible for no traction
Thought I would share my new claim to fame, "breaking axles on street tires"
