I'm almost certain it's an EcoBoost 4V...

I wouldn't he opposed to a high output 4 banger. Fast is fast. At this point it's all speculation. Hell, We still don't know everything about the 2015 and that is set to be released not too far in the future. So you never know what ford has planned, until they announce it.

Yes, I agree, but if the spies are right in their assumption that this mule among others with the same camo and body details, this is indeed the successor to the current GT500....so I doubt SVT would replace the most powerful series production V8/engine in the world with anything but a V8...with fuel regs and prices ever more stringent and the fact that the hood line needs to keep a low profile for crash regs and aerodynamic efficiency, my best guess is the supercharger was dropped for a twin turbo setup...the engine bay of the new car is definitely wide enough to accommodate that design...most exotics from the Germans and the Japanese that the new car will compete with are all turbocharged or are switching to turbo in their next cycle...I hope I'm right...time will tell...

I don't believe it's narrower but in any case, I hope you and I are both right...

It's narrower. Ford even confirmed that. Take a 2nd look at it. Main reason why they said the 5.8 from the gt500 will not fit

The 5.8 got taller/wider with the increased deck height but the biggest contributor was the supercharger in terms of overall height...the width of the modular V8's will not change enough to fit into a drastically narrower engine compartment--that would require a radical redesign and wouldn't follow suit with the line up between the S550 and the F-Series...a smaller displacement V8 with twin turbos is, in my opinion, the new direction for the Mustang halo car...Chevy and BMW did the same thing with the ZR1 and M3/5...

My opinion is this:

It will have a twin or single Turbo 3.7 V6 engine. I'm thinking TWIN TURBO. Dual clutch padal shifter 8 speed automatic transmission.

Doubtful on the V6...I'm thinking a flat plane V8 n/a since this is the rumored GT350 and for the GT500 flat-plane V8 with twin turbo....not sure on the type of transmission

Sounds an awful lot like a flat crank V8 setup to me.
