Coolant Leak

I have a slow coolant leak. My car is a 2012 3.7 with 35,500 miles. Bought new with no prior issues.

After a two hour drive the next day I noticed a trail of coolant running down my drive way. It looks like it may be coming from the water pump. The reservoir was empty so I filled it up, started the car, let it idle, drove it around the neighborhood, but it wouldn't leak again. The water pump is covered under power-train warranty.

MY QUESTION: I have a TB, CAI, bama tune, and shorty headers. Will any of that void my power-train warranty?

Thanks

Marc

Yes those mods will void a good bit of your power train wtty. It should NOT void the water pump wtty but I'll bet beverage that it will. In court you'll win (maybe) but the effort will cost more than a water pump

Common issues on the motors. There's a check valve that needs to be installed or air bubbles go where they shouldn't and ruin the water pump. Ford will probably push off your warranty and say it failed due to that issue not because it was just a bad pump. Depends on your dealer to be honest

Some fix it and add the new corrected hose no fee at all and others will blow you every which way.

Thanks. I'll ask them about the check valve and install the factory intake.

Just an update FYI: The cars at the dealership, they can't find a leak yet. I kept the steeda intake and everything on, they've called a couple time and didn't mention anything about the parts voiding the warranty. All good.

They found the leak after driving it around. The leak is from the water pump.

You have a bad dealership. They shouldn't even have to start the car to detect the leak. Use a black light and the coolant will glow up like Christmas.

They put unnecessary miles on your car in my eyes

I had a dealer once put 90+ miles on my car for warranty rear end work...which had to be redone anyway because they screwed it up...still reaping the benefits of their "thoroughness" as I just had a transmission issue fixed. Who wants to bet they did a little "spirited" test-driving?

But thanks, good to know.
