Can't you test it with a multi-tester?

Thread could still help somebody.

The wire with the stripe is usually positive. But, there are exceptions because cars are sometimes tampered with or partially designed by imbeciles.

It was the black with yellow stripe= positive. Figured all black most always means ground. By the way, the 3rd brake light flasher works great. It's from 3rdbrakeflasher dot com. About a dime sized circuit board you splice in and has lots of different flash patterns, delays, etc. I've got mine set for four quick flashes and then stays solid on. You can even set the on/off brightness so it can be "modulating" from dim to bright instead of off /on completely.

Waylap, could you give a little more info on the product. It sounds good. The site has 3 different flashers. Which model did you purchase and could you give some pointers on installation please
