Exhaust question

Tried to find this answer in other threads but couldn't. The idiot I bought my car (2013 GT) from did a "resonator delete". He thought the resonators were after the axles. Basically he did a muffler delete and the round resonators are still under the tranny. My question is this, would I be able to cut out the resonators and with minor fitting problems, would lets Atak or Roush mufflers work before the axles? I'm assuming this would cause hella drone which would be fine for a bit. Ever heard of anyone doing this? Thanks in advance.

I'm confused why wouldn't you be able to do the mufflers if all he did was remove the oem ones. You should just be able to clamp the exhaust on and keep the resonators on. Some pictures of what he did would help clarify.
