Laptop into OBDII Port

I would like to plug my laptop into the OBDII port on my 2012 Mustang Base model. I have a basic OBD reader but I'm just wondering what else I can cautiously peer into and possibly diagnose or adjust.

So I know I'll need an adapter and software to do this.

Before you remind or tell me of the dangers of this action I am very aware. I've been a Computer technician for 30+ years and know just how quickly the push of one button can destroy something. I've also been working on cars since I was 5 and my dad sat me on the fender and showed me what a spark plug was and how it worked. We won't talk about how my Grand-Dad touched a plug wire to the fender I was leaning on and zapped me! He and my dad were greatly amused!

This is a request for info and what your experience has been doing this.

2012 Race Red Convertible V6
A work in progress.
New bits added as I can!
