20's are likely available too from the factory order sheet.
Gladiatroll, I bet it will be 255 all around.

I have to wonder if there are going to be issues with tire wear. They have stated that they will have larger tires in back than front. Since a lot of tires are directional, that would make tire rotation impossible. Not that many people do tire rotation anyway.

For the people that do a staggered set up have the same problem

If you paid any attention to facts (which we all know by now you don't) you'd already know that 20s are available, and they're the best looking wheel option (ok that last part is my opinion).

I can't see the base model GT having a staggered setup from factory. The track edition I can. I'm pretty sure Ford said there will be another track pack available.

Troll YOURSELF I voice my opinions weather you LIKE THEM OR NOT.....
and no you were wrong again 245's in the rear ha.... think again....
looks like they are going with a staggered set up 275's minimum in the
rear to compensate for the new high HP 5.0 makes sense.

I'm curious about the Track Package, as well. I'm wondering what you get with this package... if it is Recaros, 6-piston Brembos, black 19" rims, and the extra gauges I have to see what you may not be able to get with this option. I really like the 20" wheels.

OK Gladiatroll. I'll tell you what makes sense? 245 or 255 all around on the base model and a staggered 255 F and 285 R track pack. The 2014 base GT came with 235 all around you really think another 20-50hp your going to need a 275 out back? Shut up troll!!!

With 19" wheels you get 245's... I have the base model GT it had 18" and they were 235's.

Ok, mine has the 19" so that's why I thought the 18" was also 245's... Dang, 235's! And I thought my tires were a bit small for the car, I want to eventually have 275's, or 255 and 285 staggered set up.

The 94-04 models with the 17" wheels came with 245's all around....at one point I had a staggard setup on my '00 with 245 F and 275 R...a buddy of mine had a 95 with 245 F and 295 R...not the best on either car...

FFS... Do I really need to look to see if the car is on display again tomorrow just to look at the tire sizes to silence this argument?

Just reexamined my phone pics and the fronts w 20s are 265-35-20... Eesh

You need to know if it is a base, Premium or performance package. Ford is not going to have a staggered setup across the board. So yes check out the tires and see which GT model it is? I would think the staggered set up will be in an option package. It cost more for a staggered 9" and 10" wide setup than a standard 8" or 8.5 inches wide.

That would be great , that being said it all depends on the level base GT likely
running 19's , 20's for the premium , and perhaps a track pack likely either or
could run a staggered set up with the track pack being the front runner but
the premium GT might have it too that's my guess.

I run a staggered set up with high Hp it works well.

Actually Dopy paw yes I spelled that on purpose just a return gift , YES
another 20 to 50 HP would justify beefier tires in the rear think about it
440 Hp - 470 Hp is quite a lot of power to run 245's on I think Ford
engineers have realized this and thus are compensating for the increase
in HP.

Here's a thought...maybe, just maybe and I'm going out on a limb here, if and a huge if Ford is planning to run a staggard tire setup in the GT or any other model, it could have to do with handling and not hp...wow...that could possibly make sense (sarcasm)...a staggard setup promotes under steer...given the emphasis on handling for the 15, it wouldn't surprise me one bit....all V8 mustangs are prone to oversteer in past years...this due to the solid axle and power...knowing this model is tuned for the global market, a staggard wheel setup could be possible but only to promote handling prowess, not because Ford is planning to offer a torque monster in the GT...those of you that appreciate the engineering side of it (with the exception of one member--I won't name names but it starts with G and ends in O) will comprehend some of the logic behind that speculation...oversteer while fun, doesn't mean good handling...a car that has predictable under steer is considered world class.

"it wouldn't surprise me one bit....all V8 mustangs are prone to oversteer in past years...this due to the solid axle and power "

That all sounds great BUT the 2015 has IRS and I'm sure great handling to boot
it is after all a totally new platform , I even read that the engineers used the M3 and Porsche 911 as benchmark goals .... for handling and performance with that being said I will stick to my original theory that staggered offset tire packages will be used for mainly power control .... secondary would be
handling.

For the M3
I´ve read that they are 245/40 & 265/40 on 18". As you can see, the wider rears have the same aspect ratio as the fronts (40), making those taller overall. This situation is very common on Ferraris, Lamborghinis, etc, but new to BMW (which always had lower aspect ratios for the wider rears).

Obviously Ferraris and Lambos have very high Hp , having very wide rear tires
gets the power to the ground of course the Lambos are four wheel drive
so it's a bit different for that set up.

Well being there's no window sticker it'll be hard to tell what trim and options it has but I can almost guarantee its a GT Premium. Has 20s, amazing leather interior, MyFordTouch... But that said I'll provide whatever info I can

More news on future transmissions a 10 speed amazing.... likely a paddle shift version
but NOT initially just like the direct injection is likely to come in 2017... or 16

Gearing Up

Other than an Ecoboost, don't expect major powertrain changes in the new car, at least not initially. In that same Car and Driver report, though, it was revealed a 10-speed automatic is coming, probably by 2017. For now, it's six-speed manual and automatic choices only – no dual-clutch paddle setups, either.

The rumor is Ford is working with GM on a 10 speed transmission for the general product range....the speculation is that the Mustang is one of the nameplates that will get it....@DallasStang77, you are still right in that most of what that dude posts is BS though +1
