74 - 76 were the saddest years for the Mustang. They added the Cobra II just to put lipstick on a pig. The 73 still looked good. Amazing how they could kill an iconic car in one year. I remembered how bummed out we all were when that happened.

The Cobra II yeah the model everyone wanted lol.... yes there is a
hint of sarcasm there. Not the best years for the iconic pony car.

I seen a 2015 GT and a 50th addition 2015 at the ford show in Tulsa. The car looks huge, but I don't think its hideous. Its got a little bit more power, I like the idea of it cornering better. 100 pounds really isn't the end of the world. Its gotta be faster than the current 5.0 or they wouldn't say it will beat the boss at everything.

I wouldn't either, but I might get the new gt 500 or whatever they're gonna make in two or three years. I should be able to upgrade about that time.

I hate the rear quarters. It reminds me of the Camaro sides. Like they just didn't know what to do, and said "ah, it'll be fine."

Fellas, except the pocket of mustang enthusiasts who race, the average person doesn't give a flying ***** about the weight. We just drive our cars to Wally World or the food store and back home. Majority doesn't give a crap. It will have at least 420 HP and will get someone from point A to point B while shoving their nuts back up into their chin from the power so its all good. We are the minority not the far majority of consumers who just want a nice looking pony car.

F the weight gain. Its all good.

Ha ha ha. The 2015 mustang will rock with performance regardless of the weight. I completely understand why enthusiasts was hoping Ford kept to their word on the 300 pound weight reduction but its still gonna pack your balls in the back of ones throat. Ha ha ha

Definitely a misquote on the weight gain. The new car did gain some weight but it's damn near impossible to do a ground-up redesign and pack in all the safety features required and electronics most customers demand without gaining weight. The most recent article I read was a dealer leak that said the GT gained maybe 90 lbs--which isn't bad at all considering all of the content the new car has. Keep in mind that Ford reduced the weight of the new car by 300-400 pounds by using aluminum for the front fenders instead of stamped steel. What was the weight gain between the SN95 vs the S197? I'm sure very similar and the S197 GT only gained about 40hp over the SN95...

I referenced the GT in my initial reply since it had the most weight gain delta front the previous GT...but yes, each model level has an increase with the V8 being the most.

I don't think it's not that he doesn't get it it's the fact that he understands ford caters to the major demographics that buy mustangs , which isn't people who buy brand new cars to drag race. Unfortunately between the safety features and luxury features cars need to sell now a days the days of 3000-3200 pound cars is basically gone.

Sure Chevy does it with the corvette and other high end cars do it with light weight material (carbon fiber and aluminum) but that comes at the higher price tag. And if ford did this with the mustang they would be discontinued after a year because nobody is going to pay 40k for a base mustang. Sure everyone on this site would love to see a 3000 pound 5.0 but it's just not realistic the way ford markets the mustang. I mean a lot of people already complain that mustangs are outside of your average consumers purchasing power.

After I tore out all of the crappy material and waste, the Camaro wouldn't be too much heavier than a Mustang. Seriously though, my 22k Mustang would be out performed by a 30k 370, and it would be even worse against a Nismo - starting at 43k! 43k bought a lot of Mustang in 2011-2014.

Which bring me onto the price range. When it started at 22k, it was cheaper than most of the Ford Foci on the road. When I first got it (just finished college, and was buying my first new car) my parents wanted me to get a Focus. When they couldn't find one on a lot under 22k, and looked at what a base Focus had (and several other factors not to go into detail on), they agreed- why pay so much for so little? Now that the 2015 starts at 25k, it has lost it's value. More expensive than the Camaro (23.5k) and slug of a boat known as a challenger (26.5k, if you want a standard, you need to drop over 30k for it!!!! There is no entry standard!!!!).

I like how over populated the Mustang is. Because I know when a completely stock Mustang is coming down the road, it will be an automatic that the hair dresser driving it doesn't care about. It is the same as a Fiesta to them.

But I know when my local RS3 is cruising up, he'll wave. The GT500 in the area, he waves. The GTs in the area? Well, the ones not purchased by over privileged ******s with their hats sideways or ridiculous hair gel- they'll wave. It may not be the most expensive, more luxurious, or highest power, but when people see my Mustang they know it is a MUSTANG, not a disconnected driver who doesn't know which axle moves the car.

(Point being, upping the price to contour it to the specialty crowd who can afford to drop big money will be doing a disservice. Like only selling v8s, or GT500s. How long would the Mustang last if the only model was a v8, and it started at 30k+? It would be less common than the Zs.)

2015 Mustang GT performance pack beat the 2013 Boss 302....so all of you guys saying Ford has a dud with the new car then you've lost your minds. Clearly it's a performer! And that's not even an SVT or other special model

The headlights look alright it's just the split section between the top "grille" if you can even call it that on the new camaros since it disappears a little more with every new update and the bottom grille is way to big. Looks like swollen or something

Numbers don't lie....the 2015 Mustang GT being "that" much lighter than the Camaro and Challenger will prove to be huge in the dynamics department...
