This is all I have found so far, but it looks like it gained about 60 pounds.

Speaking of Vettes ...

I damn near bought a C6 Z06 today. It's been a while since I have been in one. I saw one, stopped, test drove for a few hours, came back ready to sign some papers... I held out though, I have too much going on right now, don't have time or a place for another car. The best part of getting old (turned 30 a few months ago) is that you can reason with yourself and make rational, thought out decisions.

I will say, my Mustang is more like a fat lazy cow after driving that. I can't believe how horrible the Mustang's driving dynamics are compared to that Z06.

This is disappointing, I like lighter cars. The current Mustang is about as piggy as I ever want to get. The good news is I have just lost any potential desire to trade my 2014 for a 2016 or 2017.
The 300 pound weight loss was the only thing that appealed to me. I do hope it's a big seller, I just don't want one.

Great, the troll is back. It's about a 60 pound increase from the 13-14, not your 05 or whatever

Well originally we heard a 300 pound diet plan hmmm... that didn't pan out
as promised , yeah 60 pounds heavier than the 2014 GT and it makes roughly
20 more Hp and 10fptq so 0 to 60 / quarter mile should be the same or .... worse. With Chevy making the new Camaro on a light weight platform
Ford I see will be in big trouble in a few years looks like the pony wars will be lost.

^this, it's stupid to compare a corvette to a mustang as there in a different class all together. While mustangs compete with camaros ford really doesn't have a car in the corvette class. It's not fair to compare a 30,000 mustang GT to a 60,000- 90,000 corvette. Even the GT500s from a performance standpoint of an overall sports car a corvette runs circles around it, I mean after all it may have a supercharger on it but at the end of the day it's still a mustang. And I would think those compete more with high end Camaros such as the ZR1 or whatever Chevy is calling the supercharged camaros.

The comparison was simply that Chevy was actually able to make the car car stronger and faster while making it lighter. Ford could only add weight. No **** the Corvette is a different class. But the principle of cutting weight applies.

BTW,
ZR1 = Corvette
ZL1 = Camaro

The 2014 Camaros weight more then the current mustangs and still heavier then the 2015 mustangs (curb weight of between 3800-4000 lbs depending on model). The reason why corvettes are so light is because the R&D Chevy puts into the Corvettes as well as the premium material used (aluminum and carbon fiber) which is reflective of the price tag. Could Ford do the same with the mustang, yes but nobody is going to pay 60-90 k for a mustang. Like I said it's still comparing apples to oranges.

Not just materials. That makes up around $10k maybe. I would love to see something like their Magnetic sport suspension in the Mustang, that is definitely something I would pay the extra cash for even if it's heavier.

Not the new Camaro in development sure the current ones are heavy beasts
but those are on there way out. I see Ford has made a grave mistake adding weight to the S555. With direct injection and a new 8 speed transmission coming for the 5.0 however 500 hp would not be hard to make , in a year or two these items will be implemented to compete with the new Camaro and dodge is building a new light weight Cuda also.

Not so fast. You are gladly b**ching about the next model year's 60 lb increase but your 05 GT is lighter than the current 2014 model. Why aren't you whining about that too?

That's exactly what I pointed out to him. Pay him no attention and let him keep talking. Everything that comes put of his mouth is meant to start an argument, or is just complete heavily biased BS.

Is this from an official Ford source or someone's guess? I have yet to see anything from Ford.

Official Ford source. A dealer in Florida released the weight numbers.

Ford GT got murdered by the C6 Z06 except through the 1/4. Which the ZR1 beats the GT in all performance categories.

The only thing the GT's are any good at is the standing mile. They can make a ton of power when modified and they have very good aerodynamics. Other than that, they suck, for a supercar.

Hell ... the Boss 302 was generally faster around most tracks than the GT.
