The 15's numbers are in...

And I'll still keep my '13, thanks very much.

3.7 liter V6 – 300 HP and 280 TQ
2.3 liter 4-cyl turbo EcoBoost – 310 HP and 320 TQ
5.0 liter “Coyote V8″ – 435 HP and 400 TQ

They gained around 100lbs also.

Stock for stock, the new GT probably will draw even with the current in a straight line.

Ford reps are claiming the new GT with performance pack will knock down faster times on a track than the outgoing 302 laguna seca would.

Thoughts?

It is about more than numbers. The '15 looks to be an all around better "car" but, let's see how they stack up in real life. I got no skin in the game, as I still have a note on my 2012.

I'm making 439 dragstrip-dynoed hp at the flywheel on a canned tune only, on a car that weighs less, comparably equipped so, I'm not feeling particularly threatened at the strip.

My thought exactly. The mildest tune on the 11-14's will easily see those numbers...makes me wonder what actually changed (if anything) with the Coyote in this chassis or if they just kept everything the same and estimated it a bit higher than before.

I'm also not a fan of the looks (there's a reason Ford sold as many S197s as they had, the retro look is a winner) but I can respect that it will probably - stock for stock - be a better track car than ours.

Not trading my lady in anytime soon methinks.

You can only go to the well so many times before the water runs out. it was past time for a good thorough refresh on the car.

I am not in the least surprised Ford didn't change the hp numbers much. in fact I've been bullseye on the power level for months. If you redesign a car fresh, it makes no sense to chuck in what essentially is a free heavy power upgrade as well. You have pent-up demand because of the new vehicle and spreading out the improvements allows you to cash in on each individually and ensures repeat business.

For all the haters outside I will admit that the front is the one part of the new stang that I don't like still.

But everything else? I'll take except the weight gain too I guess.

The front can always be changed for all you Fusion haters lol

I certainly don't hate it. In person, it is a very attractive car. It just doesn't grab my disco stick the way the 11-12 did.

I wonder if it will be like 2013 when the "gained" something like 15 hp from the V8 which alot of forum talk thought to be just under rating the original.

thinking out loud.

It gained 8 and that was from something they took from the Boss.

"The 2013 Mustang benefits from a phosphorous coating on the pistons as well as the piston rings from the Boss 302′s V8, and powertrain calibration improvements contribute to the increase in power as well."

The funny thing with that is, even though the pistons are substantially changed , there's new strategy code, no cooling jets, it's been demonstratively difficult to quantify the magical unicorn 8 hp on the dyno.

Bone stock with 249 miles on it, if it didn't happen I would not say it. And its not the first time a Stock GT hit high 11's. The cars are very capable.

I think that one day, guys will talk about the ol' S197 like we talk about the old foxbodies.

Fellows, I think we're witnessing the end of an era!

You guys think the front is bad (which it is), the rear is equally a problem for me.

The overall design turned us off and we bought a 14

Ummmm... If ur including a change of tires to slicks or DRs and/or upgrading suspension then the "stock" is no longer stock.

As it stands a stock GT with Pirellis can't pull high 11's without mods.

Prove it. Link a video.

So you're saying you hit high 11's with you're stock 14 GT? Video please. Else I'll one up you and say my stock 10 speed bike did a quarter in 5 seconds cuz I let a friend of mine who's a very capable fitness trainer ride it down the strip after he guzzled down a Red Bull and a can of Popeyes Brand Spinach.

Nope it was not me and I did not say it was me in any shape or form or my 14 GT unless I cannot read what I typed but I am pretty sure I made no claim of this as being me, next time I am up north I will take a video of that car at the track.

Now, I'm definitely no John Force. It took a tire, a mild tune and UCA/LCA to get an 11 out of my otherwise stock, loaded BBP '12 GT. And that took me an entire season of DR to get it. The car banged out low 12 after low 12 but I finally got it done on a night with good air.

BS. Not even close. Mid 12's with a tire and very aggressive launch on an m6. Auto with a stock converter no way. They all (2011-2014) run low 13's-high 12's bone stock. I've watched them time and time again at the track and talked to many of them before I even bought mine. There is no magical unicorn that makes it go a second faster just because. Let's keep it real in here.
