Bama Performance sets record for WORLDS FASTEST NA 2015 Mustang GT!

We're very excited to announce that Bama Performance just took our Black 2015 Performance Pack equipped GT down the track and nailed an 11.2 @ 121mph on their first pass setting a world record for the fastest bolt on 2015 Mustang GT!

As soon as we received our fleet of S550's Bama Performance started tearing into the Coyote as well as our EcoBoost and the proof is in the pudding that Bama is here to dominate the 2015 Mustang!

What's really impressive is that they we're able to do this with stock IRS bushings as well as stock Halfshafts leading us to believe that Ford's IRS is actually pretty stout! Here's some of the mods that were used:

Full Exhaust
JLT Cold Air Intake
Bama 93 Track Tune
Custom Suspension Mods
Mild Weight Reduction
Slicks and Skinnies

Rest assured this isn't the last we're going to be hearing of Bama's efforts on our 2015 Mustang's and I can only anticipate when they'll be in the 10's!

Stay Tuned and for all things Mustang keep it right here at AmericanMuscle!

Alex, could you define "Mild Weight Reduction"? Any idea on how much the car actually weighed compared to stock?

Regardless, that car is rolling out very well given the list of mods.

Except the IRS snapped a half shaft on the 3rd run... Not exactly looking good for ppl who want to drag race this thing.

Are they snapping cause of wheel hop? Or cause of too much power and grip?

They didn't say but it snapped nonetheless. Going to be worse for ppl trying to run drag radials. The 03/04 Cobras also proved that just adding "stage 5" half shafts isn't a correct fix either. Whole damn thing needed to come apart for all new aftermarket bushings. If that is the same situation here... well we know what a built IRS costs... its a lot damn more money than a simple UCA/LCA/PHB setup on the S197 but like I said, time will tell.

this is a completely different IRS than the terminator. Ford racing has already gotten into the tens with heavy duty half shafts in a supercharged coyote with slicks

Ford also sells upgraded halfshafts for drag racing. My dealer has offered to install them when mine arrives. Lol
We shall see how strong they are once boost hits them.

If the IRS can't handle much beyond a tune, it's going to be a huge problem. What's going to happen after 3-4 months of hard driving on a tune and CAI alone?

Lol. This is going to be fun. All people ever cared about with Mustangs is drag racing. Now that they put in IRS it's going to be favoring my type of driving.

Lots of non warranty repairs after the first second one breaks iam sure. Just like the gtr trans issues that voided warranties. I dont know what ford will do but its likely in the game plan. They already have a upgraded half shafts available for the 15 on the books. Which means they know it already.

Mustangs have always been drag oriented. It is why they are so popular over the years. Rarely and i do mean rarely has there been a corner carver use for a stang. The live axle was always the best feeling of a mustang. Sliding the rearend out from under it was the best part of the car.

This isn't entirely true, the S197, especially the 11-14 s197 was very capable on road courses and auto crossing with just a few mods. Wider tires and watts link come to mind. But many of the auto crossing governing bodies made upgrades to control arms and such on the mustang illegal in their competitions, pretty much limiting their use in autocross to "outlaw" type classes. With just a couple of bolt in suspension mods they were beating many of the higher dollar cars

I don't know that if call them "issues". Basically the launch control in the Gtr would hear the teams up so much that after 2-3 back to back launches the trans would fail. Later they updated the computer system to require a several minute wait before using the launch control again after each use.

But yes these failures were not covered under warranty. The only way I see this being comparable to a failed half shaft "issue" is if the half shafts were broken while drag racing, but AM only made that happen after 3 back to back 5000 rpm launches on full slicks.

I think anyone serious to run faster than 10s will most likely swap out the rear end anyway.

What were the suspension mods for this car BTW?

Probably drag springs/shocks/struts and a 1 piece DS.

Another thing I wish Ford had effing fixed on the S550 was to put a SLA up front. Not sure why they wouldn't besides cost if they wanted to make this a world beating handling car.

Short-Long-Arm. Bascailly what the IRS is (and was in 99-04 on the Cobras) but up front. Instead of a single A-arm fixed to the subframe, you have two "a-arms" so the tire stays planted flat at all times during turns. You can always tell the SLA cars vs non SLA cars at a road racing course because you'll see gaps between the tread and the road on the non SLA cars when they hit the corners hard. You can compensate with camber adjustments but only so much and you would not want to run a street car like that.
