My dad was one of the lucky few who got one of the 1964 mustangs they are building for mustangs 50th birthday. It is car number 80, it is just incredible!Click image for larger version

For the slightest second I thought they were building 1964 mustangs.

If I were Ford I would start up a program to build certain models again. I would so buy a 67 Fastback with the new coyote motor

So $20k markup for:
  • different color seat inserts & door trim
  • upper grill with chrome line
  • rear gas cap emblem that says 50 years
  • 50 year floormats
  • dash above glovebox 50 anniversary badge... I assume says # 80 of 1964
  • chrome tail lamp surround
  • 19" wheels

There might be a similar badge on the engine with # 80 of 1964. MAYBE.

Its a $1,600 package that you can add as an option on ford.com

I do like the wheels, though.

I like the wheels too... Are those FR500s? I'm going to be so TO'd if that's what they are putting on all the 2015s because I was just about to order a set of 20" chrome ones... But so long originality if they will be stock. Bummer. I guess as long as I know I picked them for my car before every normal Jimbo (or just non-mustangaholic) on the street is familiar with them.

Anyways, it's a pretty cool car man. Probably wouldn't have dropped that much for that though whenever those are all factory options and even more importantly whenever there is talk of a new Mach 1 or GT350!!!

13-14 body style > 15 body style
....IMO...just sayin.

Props to your dad though, bro.

Lol wow... $20k markup for basically badging. Say bye bye C7 Corvette and hello 50th Badge Regular Mustang GT.

Good to have $64k just burning in your pocket. Although that $64k would be better as a down for marked up SVT Mustang or C7 Z06 though IMO.

Wow that's crazy, I would have spent that much on a Corvette but never for a Mustang with special badges.

It's just amazing how the dealers mark up the limited edition stuff. The factory already added a substantial premium - A$$hats are just greedy.

Congrats to your dad though - hope he's going to drive it!

50th anniversary special edition mustang

Surprised they didn't include the Brembos/Performance pack with premium. Still - lots of toys!
On closer look it looks like he does have the Brembos calipers...

I fall in love even more with the 15 every time I see one. I was partial to the 2 tone seats at first, but seeing them in that pic it's awesome!

Kona Blue is also a 50yr edition only option. That's work an extra $10k right there (to me).

I love my plain Jane 14 V6, at 17,500 OUT THE DOOR + tax/tag back in March 2014 . Don't see the rational in spending a premium on a mass produce FORD.

Do you consider 1,964 mustangs a "mass produce" and then about half of that is available to the general public..

Definitely a nice car and sure the package is more then just badges. But your not going to find many people to pay 16k over MSRP for a car and I really wouldn't consider it a 'deal'.

I remember right after the GT500's came out people were paying 5-10 over MSRP and then a year or two later were trying to sell for MSRP and couldn't get rid of them.

You do realize there is only one thing listed on there thst is different from a premium gt right? Your dad got a 1,600 package for 16,000. now I know why the dealers try these crazy mark ups.

Zomg he paid $one beeelion for badges?

Its called a limited edition numbered car. That is what the main portion of the $$$ went to. Some ppl have the $$$ for stuff like this, others don't, some do but definitely would do a ZL1 or whatever, this guy didn't. More power to him. Might make some money at an auction in 10 years, more likely it won't but who knows.

When he realizes his 16 year old neighbor gets the same car for his birthday minus the "serial number" he'll start to realize. Or when he totals his car and his insurance company wants to pay out 29k and he's got a loan for 65k. I hope he has gap insurance or paid in cash.

I hope so too for his sake but if not, oh well. Not my money, I honestly could care less what the financial situation is. Its a cool car but like I said, there is no way I would personally spend half that even for a Mustang. But it isn't me like I said lol.

Why is everyone killing this guy? He just got a new car in his family and wants to share it with fellow Mustang owners. It's his money. Give him a break. It's a beautiful car!

The kid is proud of his dad's new car and just trying to share it with us. He isn't being a dbag about it or trying to one up anyone I don't think so I think some slack is in order. I think he would have probably claimed that it was his if he was doing anything more than just trying to involve everyone in our (family-like) atmosphere and share something with us that we all happen to be obvious enthusiasts of and share as a common interest in.

Now I for one feel sort of bad for not being more positive. 😞

Hey kid, your dad has a pretty kick *** mustang. Hope it's yours one day.

We all know you will squeeze a dime until your fingers touch scotty lol.

Guys.... Its a cool car, let it go. If he wants to spend HIS money let him spend it. I don't see you guys forking over the cash to him to buy a car the way YOU want it.
