Curious question about intake manifolds

As I was watching the video of the Bama performance 2015 GT going for the record, I noticed that they ended up taking off the Boss intake and put the stocker back on. Then later in the video they pointed out that they came to the track and ran faster with the stock intake than with the Boss and the dyno backed that up. So I guess my question is, is the 2015 intake manifold better/different than the previous years intakes? They said it has a higher volume than the boss which I can see being true. They lost .2 and a few mph with the Boss.

So I guess what Im getting at is, should we be swapping to the 2015 intakes instead of the Boss intakes?

I seen the video and thought the same thing as soon as they talked about it being better then the BOSS. I really dont think anyone has tested the 2015 intake on a 2011-14 to see if its different. The video might me the first test.

The Boss manifold has been on and off of Bama's 2015 Mustang GT a few times! On the NA set up the car actually performed much better with the stock manifold. However, we saw some serious improvements when spraying Nitrous with the Boss Manifold. The car actually went 9.91 @ 135 with the Boss Manifold back on the car yesterday!

Video coming soon...

Hope this helps!

So are there any chances you guys will be trying a 2015 intake on a 2011-2014 to see if you get more gains?

Is it just me or do the autos seem to have better gains with the boss intake then the manuals?

in the parts info says you should only run a 90mm throttle body if you go forced induction or if you have heavy mods to your car more than just bolt ons!! but i see cars with just bolt ons and a boss intake manifold and they run 90mm and get gains! i was just wondering if anyone has experience with a 90mm on their GT w/out a boss intake manifold w jus the reg bolt ons and have had success! cause if not then ill jus have to go with a 85mm.

For 1 the boss intake opening is only 85mm anyways. You can have it ported to 90mm though.

Honestly money could be spent in alot of better places first.
