I took all the smoothing functions off.

There are somethings you look for on a dyno sheet to see if it's total BS....

1- look at the correction factor. If you see STD, it's TOTAL BS. This adjusts the atmospherics to scientific standard temp and pressure 0*C and sea level. This HIGHLY inflates the numbers because of the air density. The norm is SAE. That adjust to 68*F and sea level, which is more realistic and is what you want to use when you're comparing charts at different times and different mods. UNCORRECTED is the real deal.....if you unhook the car and ran it RIGHT NOW, you have what's shown in uncorrected. The problem with uncorrected is it makes comparison tough because the atmospherics can fluctuate day to day.

Look at the correction factor. The smoother the graph, the more the software has averaged the numbers in the run. The lower the smoothing, the more likely you are to see erroneous spikes which can inflate the numbers.....as above.

I normally put it on a correction that shows a smooth, even line without big spikes in it. Some guys JUST want to see a peak number and this gets them a little boo boo lipped as it usually drops the peak value a few hp.

If you see big spikes and STD correction......it's BS.

Gimme a few and I'll show ya what I mean.....

Here is what I was talking about. These are all the EXACT SAME dyno run...

These first 2 are uncorrected, all I changed was the smoothing on them. You can see that you lose a VERY small peak number when you bump the smoothing up from beyond where it really smoothes out. You see dudes get all kinds of butt hurt when that couple hp brings them over / under a 100 hp mark...like 399 vs 400. Ohhhh, the butt hurt comes flying out. It really shows up at the 1000 hp mark.....dudes wanna sell their rides if they hit 999 and not 1000. lol

Now, here is the same pull on the SAE correction factor, which is pretty much the norm when you're doing comparison....

Now, here is the STD correction factor. See the difference in the peak values?

If you see STD correction and a spikey run.....it's BS. On the same dyno run, that's picking up 20 hp just going from uncorrected to STD.

I picked up more HP changing the dyno settings than I did with the tune....DOH!

Alot of shops will give you STD #'s to make you get the warm fuzzy feeling inside your stomach lol.

Most local shops around here try and pull this ****.

That's correct, a lot of the exhaust companies will also use standard when they market that their system makes 20hp just for a catback. They're technically not lying but again, using STD gives false hope. We made close to 470 on STD and dropped down to 457 on SAE with our 15.

That's why I always say there are 3 things that don't lie....

Data logs, dyno sheets, and time slips. If you know what to look for you can see the BS.

When someone tells me I went from 13.2 to 12.9 and I look and see their 60' went from 2.2 to 2.0, you know where the real change came from....they didn't blow the tires off and every 1/10th in the 60' usually shows up as a 10th and a half on the big end. See the intervals, smell the BS.

So, as I read this thread I hope the "tuner company" SCT will release an "update" to the 3015 "canned tunes file" to stop "torque management" in the newer mustangs, 2013-2015 ? Or must we go to BAMA or my preference MPT? SCT could step up and revise our 3015 "canned tunes" as well for better gains.
