New to 2015 and forum

Hey guys! This is my first post, and first day on the forum, so be gentle

My 2012 BMW lease is up and I'm struggling on the decision for a new car. I might go back into a BMW lease (however, BMW has some option and branding problems). I've looked at the new vette (freaking awesome but $72k), Porsche Cayman (almost awesome but more than the vette), Camaro (everyone has one and the model year is about to change), and the challenger (ugh). And now I'm looking at the mustang.

Last night I drove the GT with PP and was really impressed and the more I look and understand the car the more impressed I become. It's been fun discovering things about the car: ventilated seats; The 3 series BMW doesn't have that! Standard keyless entry; That's a $3K plus upgrade on some cars! Standard lighting package; Wow!! Etc etc.

I have some questions that my SA couldn't answer

Can you still order the 50 year package?

Can you Combine the 50 year package with the PP? SA says you can't, but the website allows you to do it. Is this a smart combo if possible?

Can you add (add back) the rear spoiler on the PP?

Does anyone have an opinion on the value of the driver assistant/collision warning/rain sensor?

Thanks for any info or suggestion for someone starting with spec'ing a new and awesome GT???!!

The 50 years package can't be combined with pp. you also can't add the spoiler to the pp. however...soon there will be plenty of aftermarket options.

You should get the pp with recaros.

I didn't think about looking in the used market to see if that combo was for sale - good spot!

I really think the 50 year option does a nice uptick on the car's looks - but the PP is a must have option IMO.

The car is available with the 50th Anniversary appearance pkg, but no spoiler unless you want aftermarket, the collision avoidance pkg is a nice feature as I have it on mineClick image for larger version

Your questions are all good questions, and the answers depend on how you want to use this car. I wanted a powerful cruiser, and like you say, the Corvette suddenly got too expensive.

If you are young, and you have the funds, get the GT manual with the PP, add the premium package, and the assisted cruise control, rain sensors etc. If you are really into driving, the Recaro seats are a must. I have the leather sesats which are heated and air conditioned and plenty supportive for me.

Then start modding! Change out the exhaust, cold air, sway bars, springs, custom tune and/or a super charger. Mustangs are great for customizing.

this is just my 2 cents. (I got the GT with 50 year appearance, convertible, automatic, and every option but lane departure. But I'm an older guy, and my wife and I want to travel. No way she can handle shifting.)

Let the mocking commence! Ha!

I meant the 50th anniversary mustang not the appearance package.

No it's not 47k. The 50th anniversary mustang starts at 47k. The picture you posted is a mustang with pp and the 50th anniversary "appearance package". Big difference.

There are a lot of similarities with the package but the big ones that stick out are. The limited edition has a serial number and the rear louvers windows have paneled glass. From the first pics, you can clearly see that the rear louvers don't have paneled glass. Sorry but it's not a 50th limited edition.

You finally got the difference between 50 years limited edition and 50 years appearance package. I got the 50 years Appearance with PP and love it. The 20K markup back when the cars became available for pre-order was not worth it to me even though I could afford it. Just because you have it doesn't mean you should spend it. I've seen the markups decrease in the limited editions to 5k-10k above the 47K. If you want to spend that money then wait for the GT350R. Here's a pick of my beauty. Love her and glad I pre-ordered her. Click image for larger version

I guess in the long run it will count to be a limited but i wouldnt pay that when im eventually going to change it when i start with mods. Plus that chrome looks kinda gay in my opinion lol

There is a problem with combining the PP and 50 year as you eliminate the 50 year style wheels and replace them with the PP gloss black wheels. To a purist, you violated the design of the 50 year appearance and may, in their eyes, diminish the value of the car.

Personally, I like the appearance package as I think it up scales the car a bit, particularly on the interior seating and back emblem. The back emblem has a nod to the 1964 and several other, more recent, models. The chrome in the front adds some styling as well, I like it because it gives a uniqueness to the car.

I think the appearance is just short of $1,600. I'm not sure if it's worth it - but I do wonder if someone has bought an appearance package at some ridiculous price thinking that it was the limited version. I must admit I was a bit confused on the difference between the limited version and the appearance until I did my proper homework. A Salesperson might easily rip off a non-informed potential buyer with some tricky language.

Oh, yeah! That color combo...
I looked at a candy red with black stripes a while back, thought about it. Then thought I'd be living on crackers and water for about 6 years. And drive it once a decade hoping no one would scratch/hit, if I got it...
I just realized its your profile picture, I could've swore it was a new edge...

I bought the 14 used at 49,500 with 10,000 miles on it. If you keep your eye open you'll catch some at good deals. I had a 2011 gt500 a couple years ago and regretting selling it so I knew I had to pick this thing up when I found it. But...After seeing the gt350's...I'll most likely be selling it to get a gt350 in 2016.

The one I looked at was a 14 with 13K miles $56,900, it was over priced and I decided against it...
I'd rather have two slower Roush mustangs than one badass Shelby, but that's just me...
Getting ready to get Roush number two...
And post some pictures and a video of the 350, I really want to know what the voodoo is like...

Funny thing is I checked the dealers website and the car is still there...
But my ford dealer sucks they probably won't get one. The only way they get shelbys is if some trades them in...
My dodge dealer got two hellcat challengers and they were autos. Pissed me off, they want my Roush too, told them get a manual hellcat and then we'll talk...

Do you remember hearing about that hellcat jay Leno gave away?

And I'm a challenger owner and the hellcat is exactly what the srt8 needed to be in the first place, but apparently dodge is slow at realizing there cars are slow besides the viper...

Wow - my post has taken a bad left then an right. LoL!

This Tuesday I'm looking at a red GT PP/50/401a/collision package/etc. I think it has all the fixings.

With my x-plan, they want $42k and change. Which I think I can get a bit more off, but man the kicker is the 5.9% apr. WTF. I have credit score in the 820s (that's what happens when your smart with your money /cough efrain) so I'll go through my CU if they can't get near 2%.

So the good news is you can get the PP with 50.

Anyone have an opinion of the extra cost for the CS in MY16??
