Window Tint

Hello All,

I have never had my car windows tinted before, but with things heating up down here in FL I'm going to have it done on my GT. I wanted to see what others have been quoted or paid as I have no idea what the pricing should be like. I was quoted $160 for the 2 sides and another $60 for the rear so about $220 total. Any idea if this is reasonable?

Sounds a little high for me, the best thing to do is get prices from other local businesses (tint shops.)

Wow, sounds like I need to do some shopping around after what everyone is saying. I didn't even know there were warranties on a tint. Any advice on how dark to go on the tint?

My Mustang being black I didn't want to go too dark. I went with 35% and combined with what the factory calls tinting I'm just below legal limit here in MD and I got the look I was after.

One issue to look for in window tinting is a shop that is not simply a "tarp covered" setup in the corner of another businesses parking lot. These open arrangements can cause small particles in the air to get onto the windows as they put the tint on.
Plus, they are not perminant. Should they begin to get complaints, they easily tear down the shop and move to a new location, making it difficult to track them down and claim any warranty or installation issues.
Bottom line, be aware of a cheap estimate if it comes from a tint "shop" that is mearly an outdoor arrangement. Look for a permanent type shop with 4 actual walls and a roof! That's a more secure sign that they are a secure business.

Very true. Lately it seems there one around every corner. I guess it comes down to who you trust to be around next season.

Paid $150 to do all the windows (passenger, driver, both small quarter windows and the rear) except the windshield of course. Definitely shop around a bit.

$200 ceramic. 20% rear, 35% sides. Central California. Wish I had gone 5% on back and quarter side windows. Might end up doing it anyway.

I was quoted $150 for regular (metallic based) tint.
or $300 for ceramic.

I went with the ceramic. "Lifetime warranty".

I went with 40% ceramic which comes out to 32% on the Nevada troopers tint meter. Average cost in Las Vegas is around $300 at a reputable shop.
