New 2015 or Pre-Owned 2014

So I walked outside Tuesday morning to go to work just to see that my mustang wasn't sitting in the spot I parked it. I reported it to the police and after two days theyClick image for larger version

ID:	183711 pretty much gave up on looking for it. They said if it turns up to let them know. They detective also said its probably in a chop shop and they would probably never find it. The insurance tells me I have to wait 20 days before it's a total loss. My question is, my car was a 2014 v6 premium. I loved my car but since I may be looking for a new one soon I will be getting a GT. I see base 2015s for 30k but I can own a premium 2014 gt for only 31k or less with hardly any miles. If I got a 15 it would be comp orange. For a 14 it would be race red. In your opinion what should I go with and why? Any responses will help. Thanks for your input.

The whole 14 or 15 question has to be answered by you. Personally I like the s197 style. And you can get a lightly used 14 for less than 25k. Sorry about your old car though!

If I can find a lightly used 14 GT for under 25k I would jump on that but I haven't seen even the base model 14 gts for less than 27900.

New 2015 or Pre-Owned 2014

I paid 28 for my GT base with brembo package/tech package new. It was sticker'd at 34950

Deals are out there. I've seen countless guys on here snag them for 24-26 used. Just the other day a friend shot me a CL add where a guy was selling a 13 GT, and it was very low miles and had easily 8k in tasteful mods and the guy wanted like 24 I think? It was a killer deal.

If your going that route though finding it in only race red will limit your finds.

If you were closer to the border, it probably would be in Mexico eating tacos and drinking tequila.

One thing good though, if it doesn't get chopped for parts, if it is in Mexico and someone tries to cross into the U.S., it will be seized.

Regardless what you decide, buy a good alarm system for the new car.

I would say a 14 GT. Why settle for little power in a 2015 v6 when you can have a monster 5.0 !

Hmm, well if you get a base anything, you might regret it. I only say that because you had a premium and used to the features. Anything less would be a let down at this point. Unless you will have money later to throw at it to convert it to a premium.

15GT or 14GT... Make sure it's a GT if you got the coin for it.

base 15 over premium 14 easy call for me.

sorry,

having had the 1st new car I ever bought stolen 3 months after I bought it I wish they never recovered mine. It was a 4x4 truck and they managed to put it in 4 low while going down the hwy....in 6 months it went through 3 clutches after 90 days in the shop from the original incident...it was never the same and as you should know even with insurance you'll take a hit but it's better to get it over with all at once.

Although I'm not a fan of the 15 Fusion Sport edition styling, it's BASE model features even outweigh the previous 14 Premium features.
Take a good look at just what comes standard now on a base car. Pretty impressive.
I'm personally waiting just a bit to see a design change. **My 14 does not look like any other Ford 2014 product.
Whereas the 15 Mustang and all 15 Fords have a very similar look. I don't want my Mustang to have a lot of the same design features as the Cmax, focus, Fusion and Taurus.

The original Mustang did not look like other Ford models at the time and shouldn't now. Brand recognition or not, each Ford model can and should look different than another.
The 15 Mustang is an outstanding looking car, if all the others looked different. And vice versa.

After having owned a 2012 Kona Blue GT for 3 years I have to it was a great car the 6 spd never gave me any trouble and a shifter solved the problem with the soft factory shifter, The car had the 3:31 gear set which worked great as I drove every day. But when I went and looked at the 2015 Gt in Comp/Orange with the 6spd and P/P I fell in love with the car when I drove it. The new car is as they said a clean sheet of paper and the job they did was fantastic . Click image for larger version

I went from a 14 V6 to a 15 GT Premium, and while the difference in sound and engine is great the biggest difference was the new chassis. The 15 is a lot better going over bumpy roads and much smoother with 19" wheels just going down the highway. If you like a more raw experience the 14 was more like my 70 Road Runner while the 15 is much more solid feeling.

it took two weeks before mine was found. They used it as a work truck...I had a double handful of lug nuts, two car seats, and three car radios in the back when it was recovered. My just installed high end radio was ripped out. I had a homemade ladder rack on the back and I told my friends that with my luck I'd be driving down the street after recover and someone would go "That's the creep that stole your stuff....Get Him!"

just in jest do you think they were disappointed when they found out it was the V6?

It's up to you what car you want and buy. No one pays the bills with but you. I traded my 14' 3.7 for a 15' 5.0 premium / Performance pack

When you really look at the two body styles, at first they look nearly the same. A longer look reveals the subtle and beautiful way they have changed the body for 2015..........I tried to consider a 2014, but two things stopped me:
1. Every 2014 I considered was either a reposession or a rental car (many out of Canada for some reason).
2. Once I paid attention to the 2015's beautiful lines, there was no more consideration of the previous body style.

A policeman sitting next to me in traffic told me he really liked my 2015 mustang GT yesterday! Usually they just say, "do you realize how fast you were going?"
