Rotten egg smell

My 2015 gt has 1500 miles on it now. At around 900 I noticed a random rotten egg smell coming from the exhaust. Its not constant just happens at random times. Smells like a bad cat. I took it to the dealership yesterday and they said that this is normal on new cars until the cat wears in. Just wondering if anyone else has had this same problem. I also have tried changing gas stations thinking it might have been bad gas but that didn't help. Thanks in advance

Are you hammering on the car?

It could also be bad gas. Theres suler in gas and i you are getting not the highest quality o gas it could be that. I would try switching gas stations, and i that doesn't solve anything you can say it's the cats.

That's Wat I thought to at first was bad gas. I've since put different gas in it 3 times and still get that smell randomly. If it's the cats will this get better as the cats get some age on them

It should. Normally the awful exhaust smell is caused by the cats.

Rotten egg smell

Yank the cats off! Then add some long tubes and finish off with some nice new tips. (Straight pipe it)

Rotten egg smell

Resenator delete with an x pipe made the S550 sound a lot better.

Rotten egg smell

Yes one of our customers bought one and brought to us to get it cut off and an x pipe installed. I was surprised by how big it was, it looked like a muffler. He wanted better tone until he was ready for mufflers. Plus, after looking at all the improvements Ford has made to the new gen, one thing pissed me off. They had the two piece driveshaft, one day they'll get it...
I've got a video of the outcome, but it won't load up to YouTube.

I was gonna say leaded gas was put in tank which will destroy cats but a Big resonator is the way they meet EPA STandards glad I bought a 14 even though 15 has more hp I can fix that with bolt-on's, driveshaft can change to 1 piece for $700 but you'll feel more vibrabation in shifting, the wheel hop 15's R independent another reason I went with 14 solid axle , but for more money change suspension to control wheel hop, I'm hoping the new GT350 will come with the best suspension for rear anyway . You Hear Me Ford !!!

It may have been normal back in the early days of cats but I don't think it's very common any more.
The smell of rotten eggs is due to a compound called hydrogen sulfide, which comes from the small amount of sulfur that is present in the fuel.
Generally it's a sign that the catalytic converter is being overworked or cooked. One reason could be it's being flooded with fuel and the amount of sulfur passing through has increased dramatically.
A few possible causes are a leaking injector, malfunctioning fuel pressure regulator, slipped timing belt, coolant sensor out of range or lazy oxygen (O2) sensor.
Another article I read stated, "The fuel may be old and possibly contaminated, which can trigger problems with your car's emissions control system and possibly damage the catalytic converter."
In any case I think the dealer is full of SHlT.
