X Pipe

Has anyone just installed the xpipe without aftermarket mufflers? Just considering this to slightly increase sound. If you've done it, thoughts?

I had to put my stock mufflers on to trade mufflers with a guy and I still had my x pipe on the car. It was quiet as a mouse. It changes the way it sounds but an x pipe with the cats still in place actually makes the exhaust a bit quieter than the stock h pipe

Why would you want to keep your stock mufflers anyway?

I will say I am seeing you have a 15 and I believe your cars mid pipe had the resonators integrated into that stock piping. 14 and older has them in the over the axle piping. So if you just got an aftermarket x that also eliminated the resonators you could get a louder exhaust. But honestly you will want new mufflers. That's where you get the sweet symphony of a coyote 😵👍🏻

Just did some youtubing and found some clips that sound pretty good! Just doing it as an intermediary step to not wake the neighbors.

I have the resonator delete H-Pipe and stock mufflers. It is about 20% louder than stock. with Zero Drone. This is the way the car should have come from the factory. I will get axle backs later. I only have 400 miles on the car and I have the modding bug already. LOL

Is the increase in sound deeper, or more tinny? Hope that question makes sense...

The H-Pipe is a deeper tune. the X-pipe is more raspy sounding. At least that's what I have experienced with my previous mustangs. But definitely a deeper tone than stock. not much but noticeable.

Cool, thanks! Just want something a tad bit louder and aggressive sounding without waking the neighbors or breaking the bank... I prefer a deeper tone over rasp, so perhaps I'll shift my shopping cart to an H over an X.

I know cjponyparts has a video on YouTube where they install and drive with the resonator delete hpipe. About a 10 min video. There are before and after audio clips. You should check it out.

Too funny, actually just wrapped up watching it! H pipe is the way to go for me - thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. If you're in the U.S., have an awesome Independence Day.
