Shaker owners

I noticed the other day I have static coming from my sub and nothing is on. Check yours and let me know, want to know if this is a common issue or if I just got lucky.

Thanks in advance!

Nothing from mine. In fact mine is so quiet I thought it wasn't working.

By the way and unrelated to this thread, I see Ken Grody Ford Southern California advertises on this website. I want to caution anyone buying a vehicle from them. They are shady financiers... I did not buy my vehicle there but did attempt too, so I saw first hand what they do.

I don't, but with all your upgrades it might of screwed up the Harmonics of the stereo system.

Bad amp? Faulty wiring? I would take her back to the dealer.

When I had an aftermarket system put it my camaro I heard that same thing. Turns out it was excess current cause they wired the amp to my running lamps. Turn off headlights = sound stops.

Yes it's fast, no you can't drive it.

Thanks guys, it has seemed to go away. I did talk to a friend who is the service manager at Ford dealer where I got the car, she is going to look into it and see if there are any TSB's on it.

As a whole the speakers are a let down from the factory for a $1300 option, I replaced the China speakers in doors and rear deck with Kicker KS series this weekend and it made a major improvement.

$1,300 ? The Shaker system in my GT was $1,795 While its not the best I've heard, I'm pretty happy with it for the most part. Its very clear and crisp.

Yeah, $1795 my bad, but that makes is even worse. Does Ford really need to source cheap foam edge speakers from China? A simple $200 speaker change makes a vast improvement over stock.

So you replaced the 4 bigger speakers and it greatly improved the sound?

Yes, simple task except ford engineers put one screw in the back on the deck speakers making that slow process. Cut the old speakers out of the frames in back and used the frames as adapters, worked great.

Did you buy any specific speakers you could share with me or any advice on speaker brand or quality?

I have the shaker (non-pro version) and I'm highly disappointed in it. I have static as well and the sound quality is poor at best. My 2010 Dodge Ram factory alpine system blows it away, its not even close.

Upgrading the stereo is on my list of things to do for sure.

Anyone make a molded trunk sub box yet?

I used the kicker KS series, red and black box. Best Buy has them for $80 - $100 pair 6-1/2". Door speakers easy, backs a pain because of screw location. Frame old speakers used as mounting adapters for rear so you do not have to drill new screw holes. Just cut center of speaker from ring and attach new speakers to them.

Did you start with the base model or the regular shaker (non-pro) system.

Thanks for the reply. So even with the shaker pro system you still think the kicker speakers increased the sound quality?

Looks like I'm upgrading this weekend!

I give Two Thumbs up Top Notch on changing Entire Stereo System. I originally had the Shaker 500 in my Stang. I also give two thumbs up on Kicker and JL Audio speakers. I went with a Kenwood DPX 500BT Stereo.

Love the sync head unit, would be nice if it had an eq instead of just bass mid and high though
