The 2015 5.0 runs so clean it is amazing.

My previous vehicle was an F-150 with the EcoBoost, and the inside of the exhaust pipe was always thickly coated with dark black greasy soot, which even coated the back half of the outside of the chrome tip. I was constantly having to wipe it off and repolish the outside of the tip. When the tip got hot, the soot was like it was baked on.
The 2015 5.0 we've got, and have nearly 3,000 miles on it --- the inside of the exhaust pipes are still bare metal............there is NOTHING in/on them. It's an amazing difference for me, as I like to keep the tips nice and shiny.

Maybe it's because you still have those cinder block mufflers on yours. Hahaha. I get crap all over mine. And I'm still running cats.

Are you guys with sooty pipes running premium?.........The EcoBoost is a Direct Injected engine, and they are known for very sooty exhaust pipes, and sooting up their exhaust valves as well. I don't think that the 5.0 is a DI engine, is it?
Maybe my exhaust will become darker when I have a few more miles on it, but for now, clean as a whistle. I can run my finger around the inside of the exhaust after running all day at freeway speeds and nothing comes out.

I have Magna Flow Cat-Back exhaust on my 2015 5.0 with 3500 miles. Absolutely grime free. Never a hint of soot. Always burn 93 octane.

I can understand the Eco-Boost and blown guys, but a regular ole Mustang getting sooty exhaust??????????????
Mine just has a tune and the GT500 twin tips................although you can wipe a minute bit of gray out of the pipes.............they are totally clean.
I was running 91 Chevron and have since switched to 92 Costco. Just about the only 92 Octane in the state of Oregon.
Still don't have the new tune yet..............then we will see.

That's kind of what I thought........if someone's 5.0 is producing that much soot, it either needs a tune up or a good old Italian tune up (anyone else know what that is??).

Well mine has always done it since new. It's not a ton but it does get a bit of stuff on the back of the car. Maybe I notice it more since I drive my car 800 miles a week. So it can easily have 1000 miles on it before it's cleaned. You and ole rodder combined don't have more miles on your cars than I do in 2 months. Lol

And our cars being white make it a tad more noticeable. I get it along with the rubber marks right behind the wheels.

My new strategy is let my car be dirty so the soot blends in with the dirt.

Kind of surprising that some are having so much soot inside their exhaust pipes with the 5.0 and others run so clean.

Within the next couple of weeks I have been invited to a special road trip, xxx mile road trip......the time to aim for is just shy of a regular work day. Not sure I will make that.............though.
We will see how the pipes look after............so in about a work day I will have done what you normally do in a week.
Yes, you guys have white cars so it should be easier to see where mine has the GT500 rear diffuser which is matt black................

I have the boss diffuser and that doesn't look dirty most of the time. It's usually the painted part of the bumper that gets the junk. But I hear ya

Keep in mind I clean the bumper and inside of the tips every other weekend. It's pretty bad.

Do you think that those with that kind of soot are catless? They also seem not to be the new 2015 engine with the more free breathing heads......
That one pic above is really bad, and he says he cleans them every week????

My 2011 that had no cats would have black tips after a short drive. I still have the cats on my 2015 and they stay clean all the time.
