Stock mufflers

Does anybody know if there's a difference between the stock mufflers and the Ford Racing Touring mufflers? I ask because after removing the resonator and putting on the X-pipe there's a difference in the sound.

Thanks.

Stock mufflers

To answer your question its most likely yes. And yes, swapping out the resonator mid pipe for an x pipe will change the sound. Adding the muffler swap and the sound will change again. Even some exhaust tips can change the sound of an exhaust system.

Pick your poison.

I like the sound I've got right now. my real goal is to add engine efficiency, and hopefully a little better performance.

You're not gonna gain really any performance with an exhaust on these cars. So of you're happy with the sound, keep itbthat way. And for efficiency, just try not to drive it like you stole it lol

Driving it like I have any common sense is getting harder and harder! I did learn, the hard way, that the engine's oxygen sensor does not like gas additives that contain oil. Gas mileage really dropped.

You basically removed another muffler from the system and lost some weight. I am thinking about going with the Ford X pipe or an aftermarket H pipe as that's all it really needs to wake up the exhaust. I would imagine installing aftermarket mufflers might also save some weight, but I've heard they're really loud with aftermarket mufflers and that resonator removed. I'm also looking into the MAK high flow catted section right off the exhaust manifolds since most are saying longtubes don't really do much on the 5.0.

did you have a reason to put in an additive?

Opinion only but unless it really is snake oil I wouldn't (and the only reason I would consider that is I don't like snakes).

I use Marvel Mystery oil in the gas of all my motors. I thought my gas mileage had gone down after adding MMO to my Mustang. But I was wrong. My mileage has really dropped, to the 14 mpg range. So I will go back to adding MMO!

MMO isn't snake oil. It's been proven to me to lubricate the top end of the motors. I could give you examples but I won't bother you. I will say my Garden tractor motor had loud lifters, and MMO fixed that.

I was getting some slight smoke out of my exhaust if i rev it after letting it idle for a while. Smog guy recommended the Marvel Mystery Oil. Didn't do anything at all.

Yes, some people still use MMO, because it works.
