Anyone else not know about the three little lines on your door handle?

OK.........I KNOW I should have read the owner's manual sooner.......but I just found out that the three little lines on the top of the door handle are NOT just decoration!
I've been taking the fob out of my pocket every time I park the car to lock it...not any more. Just brush your finger across those three lines as you walk away, and it locks the car!
No more fumbling for the fob, and then searching for the right button. You can even be standing by the car when you do this, and see the little red LED light on the top of the lock button so that you are sure that your car is locked......
I am sure that you all knew this, right?

That's good to know! next time I see one of those cars im going to go whipe my fingers on their 3 stripes thingy and hopefully their keys aren't locked inside lololol

I really don't see why they spent their R&D budget on adding that to the car though.. Was there no better suspension or reliability-related components for them to add? sheesh!! Kinda sad to not be able to get a minimalistic car anymore. I better preserve my 99 cobra forever. I hate cars with 9000 computers all waiting to **** up my day

Yep. Have had several cars with that feature, just assumed that, that's what those lines were for. However, about a month ago somebody posted that something on that door handle came off as his car was going through a car wash. I looked at mine and couldn't see what could come off--anybody have this experience?

w/o insulting (or having one) I assume it unlocks it too.....I had a Chally rental with a similar system and liked it.

Plz know that I tend to NOT like fancy stuff but eliminating having to use the key out rocks.

Yep, it unlocks too. Just keep your key in your pocket, no need to use it for entry and exit. Really handy for women who have keychains with 150 keys, just keep it in their purse.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm............do you have your owner's manual? If not, Google your year and model and you can easily download a PDF of it, and save it to your desktop.

Not only can you lock it and unlock it from touching the handle, but if you hold down the unlock button on the fob for quite a few seconds, the Windows will go down. It's a nice feature to have here in FL when the car has been sitting in the sun on a hot day lol

Don't you have to double tap and then hold for 10 seconds on the second press of the button? I never tried just pressing it once.... My four year old will love that she can be "magic" like me lol

A lot of questions can be answered by reading; in this case, an owners manual. I read them when in the "library".

Well on the second press is when you hold it down for 10 or so sconds.

So everyone's saying, it's all in that thing in the glove box that is made of sliced trees and has ink on it? Lol

I'm glad it only double tap and not 6 taps (or was that a 1/2 dozen?)

TONS of cool gizmos and gadgets. I read the manual cover to cover before I even picked up the car from the dealer taking delivery...well worth the read, bud.

And the car also unlocks when you touch the inside of the door handle when you have the transponder key in your pocket. Essentially, the idea is that you can always have your keys in your r pocket and never need to take them out at all. Read the manual!

Now if only you could wave your arms in a special way to remote start it, you'd NEVER have to take the keys out......

Button push-start. No need to take keys out. Ironically the only time you would need to take out the key is to do a remote start (select models)

the remote start, and remote windows down, are great options. I love remote starting in a parking lot. People almost jump.
