An EcoBoost GT???

Would be nice if they just called it a Shelby, and left the "GT" part for the real engine that deserves it.......

Well they should call it an SVO. And 25hp isn't really a hot rod.

Calling it an SVO would be a great idea.......anyone know someone in Vegas at the Shelby factory that would have the mojo to make this change?

With the 24k they are charging you could make a nasty ecoboost.

I agree.....I don't know how many 4 cylinder, $65,000 Mustangs they can sell......especially when another 120 HP increase over this EB is available for so much less. I'd rather have an under stressed V8 than a high strung inline 4...... Every day of the week, and twice on Sunday.

I didn't see the 65 grand part. That's completely ridiculous. You're in GT350R price range for that amount of money, well MSRP. You can buy a Trinity for that and have money left for mods. Shelby needs to stop thinking their cars are made of gold.

Well, they did not quote a price, but I was figuring $40,000 for a loaded EB Premium plus the $24,000 for the Shelby upgrade......that there is REAL money, you know?

Well, you DO get a carbon fiber hood included in that price that totally ruins the lines of the car!............and yes, that is the way I read the article. The ADDITIONAL (you supply the car) $24,000 is for the Shelby upgrades.
I can't understand anyone being willing to pay this amount for basically 120 HP LESS than the REAL GT!! That is just nuts....

On our shores, Shelby charges $23,995 to tune an EcoBoost-powered Mustang. Buyers looking to turn the dial up to 11 can choose from a long list of options that includes bigger brakes on all four corners, brake ducts, beefier half-shafts, a roll cage and an upgraded cooling system.

I'll bet if you check every box, you too can get your 325 HP Mustang up to $85,000. For heaven's sake, Shelby ---- get real!
The first time a real GT runs across one of these, it is going to eat it for lunch and spit out the turbo bearings!.......FOR LESS THAN HALF THE PRICE!!!!!!!

I think someone at the Shelby Corp has been smoking way to much crack.

Wow, that's quite a price tag for 25hp. I can't imagine an enthusiast that would by that over a much cheaper, more powerful GT. Do they really think the name really carries that much weight?

Car and Driver appears to agree with us....they HATE this idea, and the price Shelby is asking......very well written, with sarcasm just rolling off of it!....I had to laugh as I read this part....."Shelby American retains all take off parts." Meaning. You don't even get to keep your painted hood, the original wheels and tires, or the stock suspension parts and exhaust!
This just keeps getting better and better.
That they are asking more for this atrocity than the base price for a new GT350 begs incredulity.

Yeah Shelby has quite a deal with any car they build. They take your stock parts and sell them on eBay and make a killing. They claim it helps them keep the prices a bit lower for the customer but I'm willing to bet that's not true at all.

I like Shelby but I would never send my car to them for a conversion. I'd rather build it myself, enjoy the experiences, keep my parts, and be truly proud of what my car is and how it got there.

It's a nice looking car but a bad business move from Shelby to put their hands on an ecoboost. To me Shelby equals performance so automatically I'm looking for some heavy horse power numbers. This is a car that a non mustang enthusiast will buy. Just don't get the market that they are trying to appeal to.

It is nice that Car and Driver stepped up and came out to say that the Emporer indeed has no clothes.
Their few lines they wrote about the EB GT Shelby were concise, sarcastic and accurate!

I agree with that. They sell the cars off of the hp#. They just do not perform up to the #they claim.

Check the tabs in their clothing they sell..........NOTHING is made in the USA..............Haiti, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Cambodia.............I was embarassed to even look at their cheap stuff. It was obvious that everything is about the bottom line, not about providing best value for their customers.........and?....the "Shelby GT" in this thread is exactly what I was talking about in that other thread about their place in Vegas.
Shelby probably pays .50 cents or less for a t shirt delivered to their door, and sells them for $24.00.............do you think that they think any differently when it comes to value on their cars?
But.............I digress.............
