If you seriously can't tell the difference you're:

1.) Not a true mustang enthusiast
2.) You're not as observant as you you give yourself credit

Doesn't look like a fusion when you pop the hood. Doesn't feel like a fusion when you hit the gas pedal.

The S550 seems to be an amazing new Mustang but surely Ford could have a front design unique only to the Mustang model... Like they've done with the Flex, New Explorer and The Expedition. Each of those has a nose all to itself whereas the Ford car fleet all share the same kissin cousins snouts.
Mustang needs separate face. Now....that booty they did right I think!

Yes indeed....baby's got back. I love the design of the sequential turn signals, the diffuser (on dark colors). The spoiler is nice and discrete. It's just about a tie with me with the front end, and its "angry" headlights look.............Now, the one thing I would change on the back end, and Ford, I hope you are listening............at night, when the owner is standing at the rear of the car to unlock the trunk........how about dimming that *&%&^$^#&^ bright taillight FLASH! It HURTS the eyes, and leaves shadows in your retina for several minutes. It does NOT need to be that bright, does it?

The tail lights are bright. When I'm on a hill at night and have the brake applied I often see drivers behind me cover their eyes with their hand. I'm sure it's annoying.

That's why I tinted my 13 taillights. Ridiculously bright. Still very bright with the tint.

I got stuck behind one yesterday.... They aren't dim.

I don't hate the S550 but I certainly don't like it and will never own one. They drive nice though... I might give a Fusion a thought when they start dropping 5 liters in them... As of now they have a pretty similar front end but not identical. I don't like the roof line either... Not mine though so I ain't worried about it.

The V8 model looks far nicer than the V6 model. Just my humble 2 cents.

It does look like a fusion from the front but it's not on accident or because "they got lazy"
Also known as "branding" in the marketing world. I agree that this was intentional, however I think what most people are saying is that it was a really bad choice (which I agree with).

You want to make the Fusion and the Taurus look like they are from the same "family", that's fine. But the Mustang is an ICON and should NEVER resemble an "ordinary" car line.

Do you think the people at Ford forgot that EVERYONE knows that the Mustang is a Ford... therefor you can make the Mustang look as unique as you want with zero worries of disassociating from the brand.

The new Mustang is certainly not bad looking, but Ford dropped the ball making it look too similar to their other cars, IMO.

I really here what you saying bro but I'm just not seeing any similarities between the vehicles. I'm not seeing how anyone could remotely confuse a mustang being a fusion or Taurus.

I really feel the design team hit a grand slam with the S500 and every curve and angle is pure perfection. Just the way I'm seeing it.

Stang looks so much better! So much lower and so much more aggressive. Fusion is a decent good car, but stang is a muscular sport car.

I think Project Pony said it best, so just read his comments. Hard for me to believe anyone cant see the similarities, but we tend to see what we want to.

Like I said, new Stang usn't a bad looking car, just doesnt stand out from the rest of the Ford line like I think it deserves to.

There are a few in my town and without stripes they look very plain. They sound awesome, I'll give them that. I'd stripe mine up if I ever upgrade.
