Take a pic from the front. Its sad that if I see a Fusion or Mustang in my rearview it takes a second to check to see which one it is. I HATE the 2015 body style for a Mustang. IMO they should be using this with a Lincoln aero theme for a Mark IX where it would actually look correct.

Headlights same shape, fog lights same shape, very similar lines, same shape grille. I bet if you run a picture of the front end of them both through some kind of comparison software it would shoot back an 90%+ match!

Neither are bad looking, but neither is it's own. Nor are either one, I'm my mind what a Mustang should look like. Looks are subjective, I don't like the front end.

Keep in mind that the fox received a very mixed reception as well.

I liked the fox body a lot. I would love to get one someday but now I have a 15 so maybe get one for a kid or something.

It's called design language. Remember when every single Dodge had a crosshair in the grill? It's to get the public to get familiar to what a Dodge/Ford/etc looks like. They change their design language over time and Ford went with the trapezoidal grille.

It does look like a fusion from the front but it's not on accident or because "they got lazy"

I like your car fine. Happy for you. Does somewhat resemble a 40 y o ford though. I like that too. Enjoy.

I would still happily buy and drive a 2015+ mustang. It gives them the sleeper advantage, if they didn't know it was a mustang pulling up they will when they see the tail lights. Lol

You're right, didn't notice when I found the pic. Still think they look similar. I don't hate the 2015 look. Not my style since I prefer retro, but it's still kool and it's still a 'stang so the power is definitely there. Just not a fan of the fact that it does looks too similar to the fusion to me and a few others at least. Now, the inside looks amazing. Ford did a very nice job revamping the interior, especially on the premium model. Big fan of those aviation-type switches on the console and finally moving the cup holders over a bit so they're not in the way as much.

Vystrel, good point about marketing - hadn't thought of that. Makes sense for Dodge to get their name out in the muscle car world since the charger stopped production in 1987 (I think that was the last year) and re-introduced in 2006 and the challenger had a production gap between 1983 and 2008, I believe reintroduction was due to Ford's success with the muscle cars. To me, it makes sense for Dodge to try to establish that "look" since they came late to the game. Ford's Mustang has been in production since 1964 so I'd think their look is already established. My friends from Spain, Portugal, and Greece all know what a Mustang is since it's so iconic as an American car, but some will struggle with the other brands (avg person I mean). Didn't think Ford needed to use this type of branding, unless their doing it to boost sales of the Fusion. So, to me, this might work to sell more fusions, but I do think it takes a little bit away from the Mustang look since to me that should be as unique as possible to set itself apart even further. Just my thoughts.

Le sigh,

Everyone always hating on the most current generation of the Mustang. Then when the next generation comes out, most magically like the previous generation, and now hate the new one. There is a reason it is one of the longest running nameplates, and I for one am happy with the direction the car is going in. To each their own, but as an owner of a Fox, a New Edge, and an S550 (I'd have more if Ibhad space), I clearly do not discriminate! Lol

Is it already common knowledge that the 2015 mustang has the same rear suspension as the Ford Fusion?

IMO if you have a hard time telling the 2 front ends apart its just a built up mentality in your head to hate them.

Headlight shape
Grille has a much more aggressive downward slant and is wider
Bigger and more aggressive fog light and indicators
Much more aggressive and wider grille at a sharper angle
Bottom wind deflector
The freaking pony in the grille.

I can see resemblances, but it honestly is not even close. I've never mistaken a Fusion for a Mustang or vice versa.

Oh no!!!!! The Audi TT has the same front end as the A3, A4, A6, A7 and A8!!! It's the end of the world!
As stated above....it is design language folks, and I for one think that there is indeed "some" similarity between the two Fords, but NOTHING like Audi or Nissan or Honda or Hyundai, or Kia, or Chevy does....or...........get the idea?
And, for what it's worth, the new S550 Mustang makes all the older ones look......old....which is the idea after all. There are design cues all over the new Mustang that give tribute to the original without being retro --- I think Ford did an outstanding job.

^ true. I think the new Mustangs look good. I see the Ecoboost and V6 ones in my rearview enough to notice the fronts are indeed different than the fusions

All of you can't say that there's no resemblance. I don't hate it I just don't care for the headlights. I guess the best way to put it; mustang and focus are cousins. They don't look similar enough to be brothers but you can c some resemblance.

There is some resemblance, there has been resemblance in everything. Look at the fox body and the Capri. Identical cars. But it really isn't as close as people say it is. People talk about it like the front ends are identical.

Everybody has their opinions but I wouldn't go as far as saying they're identical. Ford made a mistake though by making the focus resemble the mustang somewhat cause now look at what it's done. I'm sure they lost sales because of the resemblance. I could see why it would. The mustang should have its own identity and resemble nothing.

Actually the other way around. Ford has been dominating sales in the past year. The Mustang has been outselling the Camaro for the first time in a while, and Ford in general is outselling GM % wise.

Never said ithat they lost sales to other car companies. I believe that ppl are holding on to what they got pre 2015. Ppl aren't going crazy to trade in for the new.
