All depends on what's downstream. I still believe that a good "X" pipe scavenges the exhaust stream better than an "H", resulting in lower back pressures. Just makes sense that when one side is exhausting and forcing gases down the pipe, that it lowers the pressure on the other side. High speed = low pressure.
My 97 Cobra had a Bassani cat back with an "X", and to this day, it is the best sounding exhaust I've ever heard.
