Hold a well used one up to a bright light if you can --- you will change your mind. There are lots of horror stories about how poorly they filter --- especially after a couple of cleanings and reoilings.
If you do get one, be very careful when you do reoil it. Over doing it can mean some expensive MAF cleanings and/or replacement.

I've used them as well as others in the past on my foxbodies and never had any issues. Just wondering if the new Stangs would benefit from it.

From what I've read there isn't much to gain power wise from a drop in. Maybe you get a slight increase in MPG, more aggressive sound, and maybe a little boost in power delivery/responsiveness but don't expect any real peak gains.

I know there's a heated debate about cold air intakes, so I was thinking maybe don't get one and just get a drop in for a lot less money.

The general consensus is that after market air intake filters won't do much if anything for you.
But that hasn't stopped many, including myself, from getting one.
The way I see it is, it will pay for itself over time by saving on the need to replace filters.

That's right, that's what a video on a dyno showed.

There is a thread where some links were posted. I too went with a drop in. The tests that were done show the K&N lost a few HP over a paper filter. But I still like the K&N drop in. Just me.

2014 DIB 3.7 w/ sport shift "Blue Cyclone"

Research aFe Dry-S drop-in, I really like mine over the K&N I had in my 2012, I also have the Airaid "tube" installed.

I was thinking of getting just the Airaid tube, but not sure about that either.

All the Coyote owners with actual IRL experience at the dyno and track will tell you the CAI and aftermarket filters are a waste of money.

That seems to be the concensus, but all these manufacturers claim gains with dyno results. Too bad we all can't witness a before and after dyno session.

They actually do get the results but they'll skew things or the run will be under different conditions or "with a tune" or something.

Like the AM CAI/Tune packages they sell. Legit all of the performance increase comes from the tune.

But it is what it is, its up to the owner to be smart about it but way too many just trust the rags or the adverts and spend a ton of money on "bolt on power".

Steeda really talks there's up. Power gains without tune. But, as you mentioned, who knows what the conditions were.

In the case of the Steeda CAI it was tested at the track by an independent person and the stock one ran faster.

Also keep in mind all these aftermarket CAI's cause the iat's to skyrocket. You don't want that. The stock one is ugly but it's still the best performing one for a basic bolt on car. And it doesn't cost you anything.

What's your opinion on the Airaid inlet tube?

Waste of money unless you buy it SOLELY on looks. But it will not perform better than the stock one.

Grabber's old combo was (I think) a full exhaust, suspension work, Circle D converter (4C?), tune and fat tires and I remember him posting he was low 11s with the factory air intake and paper filter lol.

I was under the impression that people got the Airaid inlet tube to eliminate the resonator portion of the stock tube and change the sound a bit. Not for looks or performance.
Then there's those that believe that the resonator chambers help performance in addition to affecting sound.
So you may be better off keeping it exactly the way it was designed to be.
