Out with the old, in with the new...

After deliberation, the 2011 GT/CS has been put out to pasture. Inbound sometime this month is a 2016 GT PP and I can't wait.

Congrats! There will be a HUGE difference between the two, and you will really enjoy every one. The interior alone is much improved.
What color did you get?

I was thinking of getting a 2011 5.0
Other then price and independent rear.

What's the difference between 16 and 11

Thanks

The '15 and up Stangs are light years ahead of the older models. Get one!

The new one is white. The difference between old and new is everything.
Some of the changes are major, like the IRS and improved front suspension.
Some of the changes are minor, like the release for the center console not being precisely where I would rest my elbow to the cup holders being offset so you can actually use them.
Major or Minor, all the changes I have observed so far are incrementally positive. Put them all together and the 2016 is a much more capable and refined car than the 2011.

This will be a weekend and track car for me. By track I mean mostly autocross with some track days, 1/4 mile isn't really my thing. I will be running F-Street in the upcoming autocross season and will be trying to make at least 2 regional competitions this year.
I will be posting how things evolve as I get into the season and keeping a running list of mods and how things are working out.

Other than independent rear suspension, how would your definition be explained as "light years ahead"?

Well...the irs should be enough to say that, but other than the irs, it has a much better interior, better tech options that now come standard. My ford touch, paddle shifters in the autos, adaptive cruise control in the autos, blind spot monitoring, a line lock, 6 piston brembo brakes for the performance package. I could go on and on.

I realize we're only talking the difference between older Mustangs vs. the newer Mustangs, but all I can think of is that the Mustang was light years behind in many areas of technology/toys and is finally catching up with many of them.

Performance wise its not. Bells and whistles and ride comfort=yes. Which is what is going to sell to 90% of the public.

Its slower in the 1/4 and not the world beater in the road course we were lead to believe.

Congrats on the new car Static!

It will be interesting to hear your reviews on the performance difference between the two generations after you have had a chance to toss it around the track a few times

Congrats! You're going to absolutely dig this generation Stang!! I've already put 1,100 mi on my '16 GT in 2 weeks. Doesn't help that I'm house hunting in addition to the fact....this is beyond a fun car to drive!!

I have the '16 GT PP w/Shaker system and the Sych 3. Sound is good but seems they could have added more audio control features than just bass, midrange and treble.

Move from 2011 GT Premium to 2015 GT Premium

Made similar move myself from the 11 GT Premium to the 15 GT Premium and love it. I daily drive mine and found the performance pack to be a tough option to take on with Baltimore winters in mind. Overall love the car and no regrets looking back. Solid choice my friend.

And, is the clock moving particularly slowly today? Congrats on it getting there, and being able to drive it where you live!
