Well, well, well..........no more Guard Metallic, huh? I have not seen many in this color from the first two years, but we sure like ours.....lots of depth and richness highlights in this paint. You couldn't give me one in Grabber Blue, but I am sure for the younger folks, they will be happy to have that available.

I was thinking "rare" more than "collector's item"........but it will be nice not to see our car coming and going. I've only seen one other one in town (population near 400K) and it was a base V6 coupe. And, yes --- I still LOVE this color, and go out and stand in the garage sometimes just to stare at it in different types of lighting.

This Lightning blue option sounds intriguing.

Surprised they got rid of CO, I've seen a fair amount up here.

So is lightning blue just a slightly brighter DIB?

I had a loaner Fusion that was Guard, it was the first time I had seen it and I truly liked it. We had a GT at the local dealer in Guard and it looked even better on the Mustang than the Fusion and a friend searched high and low for a F150 in Guard since it was on the 15's and not the 16's. Ford phases out the good colors and leaves Oxford White, the same color of every Ford truck and van for the past who knows how long.

Yes, when you really look at all of the highlights in Guard from where the sun and shadow varies, it almost goes from gold to dark metallic green. Too bad Ford got rid of this color, but it IS as hard to take care of as black...........

WTF?!! I'm really pissed. I was wanting to pay off my 2013 and add a guard to the stable. I like to buy mine with low mileage and keep them in prestine condition. Hopefully someone out there will have one for me when the time comes.

They know a good thing when they have it 😉

White, black, silver, red & blue are staple colors.

Everything else is just a trial and error.

Personally I think guard is boring. It looks like a color I would see on a crv with a grandma driving it and a magnet on the back that says "I ❤️ my cats"

But hey that's just my opinion. That's why there are different colors for different folks.

And seriously, recon, if you say you like "grabber orange" one more time in another thread I may vomit. We get it. You like orange. It's not called grabber orange, but we get it. Please, for the love of God. On second thought maybe you should put that as your sig so we don't forget.

*DROPS THE MIC*

Btw, don't get sad folks. Don't take it personally. This is nothing I wouldn't say to you personally if we were standing around our cars. These threads are just people's opinions. I get that some don't like white and frankly I give zerofox. We can all still be friends. At least we all like mustangs...except for Rapinator. And recon we can't be friends. Sorry pal. But everyone else, we are good 😂

BTW I do like white, my 02 Explorer Limited was Tri coat pearl and my 2010 is White Suede, all of our Fords but one at work are Oxford White.
It also isn't the Oxford, I just think keeping the Performance for the Mustang was keeping it away from the work truck white.

The tri coat white is a pretty color as well. I had an F 150 that color and it is also very easy to take care of as it does not show the dust.

I wasn't sure about Guard Green until I saw it in person. I really liked it.

New colors for 2017

Isn't guard green pretty close to highland green? I've looked at photos and they look identical in most cases. To me at least. Curious how they compare in person.

Every day is a joyride.

Thanks......it is a color that has some fans.......and not. It is most beautiful in hard direct sunlight. On a cloudy day or at night, there is not much to it, I'll agree.
I like it, and am VERY happy I see so few others. As Monte Python said.........."You are unique, just like everyone else."

Is Highland a Ford color? It would be interesting, if they are that close, to see them side by side.

Edit:
http://gtcarlot.com/colors/car/7979242.html

I'd have to say that Highland is a shade lighter, with less layering. Guard has more metal flake with the resulting gold highlights being more predominate in sunlight. But you are right, they are very close.
Is Highland also known as BULLET green?

Recon,
Thanks for posting that interesting comparison pic........but I really wish that pic was in sunlight instead of a cloudy day. I think you would see a lot more difference in the colors then.

New colors for 2017

Most likely. There's a few pictures with the 01 Bullitt, but they're in similar scenarios to that picture with the 08-09 Bullitt.

I love Grabber Blue, and I'm 51. It's an old school color that was out before the younger people were even born. Kind of wish they didn't bring it back just to make mine more unique.

That's why they make more than one color......did not mean to diss GB for those who love it. You never lose your car in a parking lot, right?
I am just more of a fan of colors with metal flake in them, I guess.

Yes, very easy to find!

I was also a huge Petty fan when he was racing and those colors are so close. I think that's another reason I like it so much.

I bet it'll look great on the S550. Maybe later on they'll bring back the rest of the Grabber series. That'd be awesome.

I think the Guard looks great also. I loved the green on the Bullitt car, and to me they look very similar.

That is 1 reason I went from Grabber Blue to Sterling Grey, but the white that all the manufacturer's use is flake less and it is still a top seller across the board.

When I got my 15 there were only three colors that rang my bell; Competition Orange, Race Red and Triple Yellow but the color I really wanted was Gotta HaveIt Green.

Was trading in a Race Red and the dealer found a CO with exactly the options I wanted so I have CO. It looks great with the black PP wheels and I have added a black rocker stripe and matching hood spear stripes.

I never did completely make up my mind on that color(s).
Back when I was doing car shows, I had a friend with a Mystic Cobra. He couldn't detail his car worth a lick, but he always beat my perfectly detailed white Cobra for people's choice.
When it was a judged show, I always beat him though.....
