Whipple or kenne bell ?

I have been on the market for a whipple sc and lastnight i was about to order one. But got offered a kenne bell intercooled for nearly the same price. Guy said the kb put down 590rwhp with the KB throttle body, ken tune and 91 octane on 10psi on a 15gt. I heard good things about both superchargers. Which one do you guys think is the best option? The wipple kit im getting xomes with 132mm TB nd dual fans. Which would make more hp nd trq?

I wouldn't buy another Kenne Bell if I could get it for nothing. Biggest POS I ever had. Go Whipple or even Roush/VMP and don't look back.

I have a Paxton so I am NOT speaking from personal experience but I do tons of shows and talk to lots of people. I havent ever heard anything bad about whipple other than little high price. I have heard lots of the same about KB and they are even higher I think. I talked to a guy about 6 months ago that replaced a KB (it was the second one, first had issues as well but was partially cost replaed by KB) with a Whipple. He said he let shop keep KB for a discount on labor asa he wouldnt feel right selling it to an individual.

Whipple, here are just a few of their exclusive features,

"Whipple Superchargers, in its continued strive to bring the customer the most advanced, most powerful supercharger system for today's S550 is proud to announce the new My Whipple calibration suite featuring the revolutionary new Flight Control technology.

Available early February, 2016, the new My Whipple calibration suite allows the end user or the installer the ability to custom configure there supercharger system. With the new Flare software and latest calibration, customers can adjust the power output in each gear or globally. Afraid to give the car to the dealership? Maybe poor weather and you still want to drive your 800+HP Whipple Charged Mustang? Simply load your calibration, turn the key on and slide the Flight Control dials where you want it, wait 2 seconds and it's now bit's utilizing it's virtue pulley software that mimics different pulley combinations.

Using unique, advanced proprietary software, Whipple is able to detect the gear position in both auto and manual transmissions giving us the unique ability to control torque output. This gives every customer the capacity to have full control over their power output whether it's per gear or overall.

Not to be done, the Whipple Guardian is an industry first. New to the Whipple calibration is pre-built in added safety measures over all the current safety parameters. The new guardian system uses new software technology to further increase the safety standards others simply don't have capacity to offer."

It was probably the tune/tuner and not the Kenne Bell.

Been running Kenne Bell on my 700 rwhp 3 valve for about 5 years now. It was a DD Until recently, with zero issues, no unusual heat soak, no power loss, none of the imaginary problems that are propagated on the net. It's bull****. In my experience Kenne bell and whippel both make excellent products. There are always haters who will say anything to prop up thier brand regardless of the facts. The reality is, either one will perform well and have good reliability.

Doubtful since I tuned it myself. The Kenne Bell ran far to hot compared to the Whipple on the same car and made far less boost/horsepower.

You do realize that KB and Whipple take temps from two different locations so naturally they will read differently even at the exact same temp....right?

Yes I'm well aware of that. The KB I had was horrible at pulling timing as soon is it got hot. The Whipple ran significantly cooler.

I had a Kenne Bell on my 05 for 5 years with 0 issues other than breaking a belt. Now I'm in a 2014 and I'm at the same cross roads. I've been told to go with the whipped due to the belts issues but the price of the whipped is about 3k more for a whipped 2.9 vs. kenne bell 3.2. I would like one paint matched vs. the kenne bell polished and it's close to a 3k difference

That's terrible...I haven't had any of the usual complaints in my personal experience.
I also run a much larger pump/reservoir than the included unit, although I didn't always. It was fine for a long time with the stock tank but I built a big trunk mounted tank so I could ice it down at the Drags. When I road race it I just dump some boost and run a milder tune. The only complaint I have, and it's not really KB's fault is that this new CNC motor breathes more than the blower can supply. I originally bought this blower for a much milder motor. It was plenty of blower, but this motor needs more air than this little thing was meant to provide. Had I known what I would end up building I would have bought the Mammoth. Much more air flow. My Engine builder says minimum another 100 HP on the table. Poor planning on my part.

Huh? What do you have? I have the stage 1 2.6 with a FRPP throttle body which effectively makes it a stage 2 2.6.

I have the kenne bell stage 2 also. I made 530 hp with 9lbs of boost. I just finished my stroked motor, new comp cams, Slawco racing heads and much more. Had it in the shop to crank up the boost, looking for about 900 to the wheel. I think you still have some left on the table. No offense, please

Mine is fine for what I'm doing now. I'm only running 9 psi.
With the 20 psi pulley it makes a ton of HP and TQ until about 6500 rpm and then it falls on its face....can't supply the motor. At 9psi it makes power to 7100 rpm. The motor is good for 7400 so I will never get there with this blower. But again, I'm not drag racing anymore so i don't need the power or I would for sure get something bigger.

The 2.6 wont do it. I talked to KB about it. They said the intake track on that blower is sized for much lower power output. It was designed to be a smog legal street blower. That's why I bought it. The Mammoth is not street legal so I went 2.6. With the right size blower I could be making much more power....at least 100 more with a 2.8 and now KB is making blowers over 3 liters for 3 valves.....they didn't before, all they had was 2.8.

Whipple or kenne bell ?

Well if you want to try my Roush M90 be my guest. Getting the Roush 2.3 TVS in the future. I think the new block will like the blower. Most people I talk to are happy with the results.

My Whipple was only a 2.3 but made 718 rwhp and 735 rwtq @ 25.5 lbs of boost. My best time was 10.00 @ 141 mph. It had 9's in it but I could never get the car to hook.
